Introducing our morning keynote speaker for the 8th Annual Woodlands Hope Rising Conference on February 27, Johann D'Souza!⁠

Dr. Johann D’Souza is the founder of Values First Therapy, where he offers modern psychology with traditional values. He specializes in helping high achievers overcome anxiety or OCD by using science-based strategies.

He earned a PhD and MA in Clinical Psychology from the University of Houston on a Presidential Fellowship after receiving a prior MA from Boston University in Psychology and a BA from the University of Dallas in Theology.

His research publications focus on the psychological benefits of hope and optimism. Dr. D’Souza is a research affiliate at Harvard’s Human Flourishing Program, a coach for OptimalWork, and the host of the Dr. Johann D’Souza Podcast.

Three objectives of presentation:
1) Understand what anxiety is in the brain and body
2) Understand the treatment for anxiety
3) See how facing anxiety can strengthen our faith

Join us for the 8th Annual Hope Rising community mental health conference, which will take place on Friday, February 27, from 8:00 to 3:00, and will be hosted by The Woodlands First Baptist Church. This event is a collaboration between the Spiritual Care Network, National Alliance on Mental Illness Greater Houston (NAMI), and the Behavioral Health and Su***de Prevention Taskforce of Montgomery County (BHSP). The annual event is open to the community, family members, mental health professionals, and faith leaders.

The Hope Rising Conference is an invaluable platform for connecting families, professionals, clergy, and lay leaders in the community with services, information, and support while also forming meaningful connections.

In addition, lunch and refreshments will be served. Attendees will benefit from continuing education credit provided for counselors and social workers, as well as have the chance to visit resource tables from various local organizations and treatment programs.

This event is an opportunity for professionals, public officials, and people in the community to come together and address topics that affect so many lives in our community.

In the Belly of the Whale 2

For: Individuals and loved ones who are trying to understand why there is chaos occurring – do I have a mental illness or addiction? Does my loved one have an illness? How do we recover? What: There will be five program presentations along with Q&A opportunities. The program will be recorded and will be available for livestream via YouTube. Vendor booths limited to 20 tables.

The objective for the conference is for participants to leave with the feeling and knowledge that they know how to move forward and what those steps might be.

When: January 26, 2019; Registration begins at 7:45am Program begins at 9:00am and ends around 4:00pm (NO CHILDCARE available)
