The holidays can bring joy — and also uncertainty, change, and pressure.
For those with OCD, anxiety, or panic disorders, this season can intensify intrusive thoughts or compulsions.

Here’s your reminder: it’s okay to say no, take breaks, and protect your peace.
The goal isn’t a “perfect” holiday — it’s a peaceful one. 💛

Save this post for the days you need permission to slow down and breathe.

Friday morning spent networking with fellow OCD specialists at the OCD Institute of Texas. And of course… we couldn’t help but start conceptualizing cases🤓 And yes some of us were awed by the shiny new coffee machine ☕️

Thank you to Cali Werner for hosting!

Progress with OCD doesn’t always look like “feeling calm” or “thinking positive.”
Sometimes, it looks like:
✨ Noticing an intrusive thought and choosing not to react right away.
✨ Catching yourself mid-compulsion and stopping — even if it’s just once.
✨ Sitting with uncertainty a few seconds longer than last week.
✨ Reminding yourself, “This is my OCD talking.”
✨ Doing something meaningful even while anxious.

These moments are easy to miss because they feel small — but they’re not.
They’re signs that your brain is learning a new pattern and you’re building strength, one choice at a time. 💛

Save this post for the days you doubt your progress — and remember, healing isn’t about perfection. It’s about persistence.

During our OCD Awareness Breakfast, Dr. McIngvale reminded us why words matter. 🧠💛

OCD isn’t an adjective — it’s not a personality quirk or a preference for order.
It’s a serious, often misunderstood mental health disorder that affects millions of people and deserves to be treated with understanding and respect.

By changing the way we talk about OCD, we help change the way people seek help — and how quickly they get it.

Join us in breaking the stigma. Share this message to help others understand that OCD is not an adjective — it’s a treatable condition, and recovery is possible.

When we say we use evidence-based treatment, we mean our approach is backed by decades of scientific research — not trends, guesswork, or “coping skills” alone.

For OCD, that means Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP) — the gold-standard treatment proven to work.

ERP helps people gradually face the thoughts, images, and fears that trigger their anxiety without giving in to compulsions.
Over time, this retrains the brain to see those fears differently — and the anxiety starts to lose its power.

ERP isn’t about “getting rid of thoughts.” ERP helps people learn, through experience, that anxiety is only temporary and that they can handle uncertainty without relying on compulsions. 💛

It’s challenging, brave work — and it’s also incredibly effective.
Because healing isn’t about control. It’s about freedom.

At our recent OCD Awareness Breakfast, Gabby Westbrook, LCSW, spoke about the importance of bringing together mental health professionals to recognize the signs of OCD sooner. 🧠💛

Early recognition and accurate diagnosis change lives — and that starts with awareness, education, and connection within our professional community.

OCD doesn’t always look the way people expect. By learning to spot the signs early, we can help individuals access effective, evidence-based treatment faster — and begin their path toward freedom.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this important conversation. Together, we’re building a community that understands, supports, and empowers those living with OCD.

Exposure Saturday at the Car Wash! You can listen to a snip it of our dialogue in which a client successfully faced their fear of "What if I have could have panic attack?" They feared being in small spaces and this was one of places on their hierarchy list. They were determined to not let anxiety take over the life. From elevator rides, to flying, to a car wash, this client is killing it!

🎃 This Halloween, let’s bust a scary myth:
❌ OCD is not about being clean, quirky, or picky.
✅ It’s about intrusive thoughts + compulsions that can feel overwhelming.

The good news? With evidence-based treatment, OCD is treatable.
That’s not scary—that’s hope. 💛
