⚠️ Wind chills are expected to drop into the single digits and near zero at times, creating life-threatening conditions for anyone exposed to the cold.

❄️ Severe Cold Weather Advisory ❄️

The forecast is calling for another blast of dangerously cold weather beginning Thursday evening and continuing through Sunday morning.

Based on the forecast, Thomaston is activating the Severe Cold Weather Protocol from 5:00 PM Thursday (12/25) through 10:00 AM Sunday (12/28).

Overnight temperatures are expected to drop into the teens, with north winds of 5–10 mph and gusts up to 20 mph, creating wind chills in the single digits and near zero at times. Wind chills Friday and Saturday nights are also expected to fall below 10 degrees in parts of the state.

If warming needs arise, shelter will be available.

A Severe Cold Weather Protocol is in effect Sunday 12/14 at noon through Monday 12/15 at noon.
Dangerous arctic air and windchills at or below zero are expected overnight.

If you need a warming center, call Thomaston Police Department at (860) 283-4343 to be connected with Ambulance Shelter Personnel. Shelter will be opened on an as needed basis.

Please check on neighbors and vulnerable residents. Do not leave our furry family outdoors for any extended period of time.
This cold can be life-threatening. Dress in layers. Stay warm. Stay safe.
