Journeying Together Soul care for women

On this winter solstice, this blessing is for you, again and always, or for someone you love. Because for so many folks, it has been a year of very long nights. So I am leaving this on your doorstep, tucked beneath a thermos of hot cocoa and a tin of your favorite cookies. And to friends in the Southern Hemisphere, blessings of the summer solstice to you! Near and far, I am wildly grateful for you.

BLESSING FOR THE LONGEST NIGHT

All throughout these months,
as the shadows
have lengthened,
this blessing has been
gathering itself,
making ready,
preparing for
this night.

It has practiced
walking in the dark,
traveling with
its eyes closed,
feeling its way
by memory,
by touch,
by the pull of the moon
even as it wanes.

So believe me
when I tell you
this blessing will
reach you,
even if you
have not light enough
to read it;
it will find you,
even though you cannot
see it coming.

You will know
the moment of its
arriving
by your release
of the breath
you have held
so long;
a loosening
of the clenching
in your hands,
of the clutch
around your heart;
a thinning
of the darkness
that had drawn itself
around you.

This blessing
does not mean
to take the night away,
but it knows
its hidden roads,
knows the resting spots
along the path,
knows what it means
to travel
in the company
of a friend.

So when
this blessing comes,
take its hand.
Get up.
Set out on the road
you cannot see.

This is the night
when you can trust
that any direction
you go,
you will be walking
toward the dawn.

So grateful for the ways Journeying Together is becoming a story of grace we’re all part of. 🌿

This season, I’m reflecting on the lives being touched through retreats, hospitality, and spiritual direction—
✨ “I felt cracked open… able to share honestly.”
✨ “A refuge of rejuvenation for mind and spirit.”
✨ “More healing, ease, and connection with the Trinity than I’ve felt in years.”

Your prayers and generosity make this possible. 💛
Because of you, people are finding rest, renewal, and a gentle space to meet with God.

If you’d like to support this work:

Thank you for being part of this unfolding story of grace.

Friends and fellow sojourners,
As we step into this season of gratitude and giving, I’ve been reflecting on how Journeying Together has grown—not as a project, but as a story of grace we’re all part of.

Here are just a few glimpses of what your prayers, encouragement, and generosity have made possible:

From a retreat participant:
“I felt ‘cracked open’ almost instantly and was able to share honestly while participating in the Ignatian Exercises.”

From an Airbnb guest seeking rest:
“What a refuge of rejuvenation for the mind and spirit… The labyrinth was a wonderful experience of self-reflection from God.”

From a spiritual directee:
“I feel more ease, progress, healing, and genuine connection with the Trinity from my brief time with you… especially your gentle IFS approach.”

Each story reminds me why Journeying Together exists: to create spaces where weary hearts can pause, listen, and rediscover the gentle nearness of God.
And because of our Freely Receive, Freely Give model, no one is turned away due to cost.

If you’d like to join this story of generosity and grace, here are a few ways:

- Pray for those finding rest and renewal
- Sponsor someone to receive spiritual direction
- Share about Journeying Together with someone who needs care
- Give a year-end tax-deductible gift through our partner, Curate Ministries

Thank you for being part of this unfolding story of hope and healing. Because of you, people are discovering again that God meets us right where we are—and gently invites us home to rest.

As I was working in my garden this week, this passage kept coming to mind. We are in a season of pruning and it’s hard, but my prayer is that it will produce fruit that will last!
