You’ve probably done it before. You catch “the crud,” push through work, power through school events, and tell yourself it’s just a lingering cough or a little extra fatigue.

Maybe you’re more tired than usual. Maybe your chest feels tight. But you assume you just need more time to recover. Most of the time, that’s true.

But sometimes, a virus can do more than make you feel miserable—it can affect your heart.

Read our latest blog post to learn more about the lingering symptoms you shouldn't ignore, who is most at risk, and how to protect your heart during cold and flu season.

On World Sleep Day, we're highlighting the work of the Archbold Sleep Center to help you achieve more restful sleep.

A good night's sleep is essential to your well-being. Since most people spend roughly one-third of their lives asleep, it's no secret that the quality of sleep directly affects the quality of your life. However, 50-70 million Americans live with sleep disorders, sometimes unknowingly.

The Archbold Sleep Center performs sleep studies in a private, spacious, and comfortable bedroom. A board-certified sleep specialist and medical director interpret the results of the sleep study. Once the findings are complete, the final report will be reviewed with the patient, and a treatment plan will be designed based on the patient's unique needs.

If you or a loved one suffers from the following symptoms, you may have a sleep disorder.

• Excessive daytime sleepiness
• Heavy, loud snoring during sleep
• Falling asleep while driving
• Difficulty falling asleep at night
• Frequent breathing lapses during sleep
• Waking up several times during sleep
• Restless, twitchy, or jumpy legs at night
• Excessive sweating at night
• Morning headaches upon waking
• Memory and concentration problems

Visit www.archbold.org/SLEEP to learn more about how the Archbold Sleep Center can help you rest easy once again.

"Ringing this bell celebrates victory ... Recognizing your spirit, your courage and your unwavering strength."

Surrounded by loved ones and members of our team, Kiera Arnold recently rang the bell and celebrated the completion of her chemotherapy and radiation treatments.

At the Lewis Hall Singletary Archbold Cancer Center, the "HOPE" Bell is an audible reminder of the strength of the patients we serve and the dedication of the Archbold team.

"She was like sunshine every day that she entered the Cancer Center for her treatment," a member of the Archbold Cancer Center team shared about Kiera.

The first line in our mission statement and the focus of everything we do at Archbold is patient safety. This week, we are recognizing National Patient Safety Awareness Week with healthcare organizations around the country.

This year's theme, Team Up for Patient Safety, reminds us that patient safety is a collaborative mission that requires commitment from care team members, providers, patients, and their families.

We're proud to recognize a member of our team who has consistently demonstrated that commitment. Kevin VanLandingham, PharmD, BCPS, has been recognized as Archbold's Patient Safety Champion of the Year. Kevin is a Pharmacist at Archbold Memorial.

Congratulations and thank you for your dedication to Archbold's mission to provide safe, innovative, and compassionate care every day of the year!

It’s easy to put off a screening if you feel perfectly fine without it. After all, if nothing hurts and you feel healthy, what’s the rush? But when it comes to colorectal cancer, waiting for symptoms can mean waiting too long.

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, the perfect time to talk about one of the most preventable cancers when caught early. At Archbold, we’re committed to helping families across South Georgia understand the life-saving power of routine screening.

Read our latest blog post to learn more about screenings, symptoms, and how early detection could save your life.
