Occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants are experts in helping people perform the activities they need and want to do every day.

The occupational therapy team at Archbold focuses on the things you want and need to do in your daily life. Occupational therapy intervention uses everyday activities (occupations) to promote health, well-being, and your ability to participate in those important activities.

During Occupational Therapy Month, we're proud to recognize these team members and the important work they do to help patients live life to the fullest. At outpatient rehab locations in Thomasville, Cairo, Camilla and Quitman, Archbold's OTs are ready to serve you and your family.

🌹 Archbold joined our community in celebrating the 105th Rose Show & Festival over the weekend. 🌹

The festivities began at the Rose Parade on Friday, where Archbold team members raised awareness for Donate Life by building a float and walking in the parade.

At the Rose City Walk, Archbold received the Wellness Award in the 500+ employees category, recognizing our organization’s strong participation in the event. Each team member wore a special t-shirt celebrating Thomasville’s Bicentennial.

Linda Law, Radiology, and Louis Carter, Marketing, were the top female and male finishers among Archbold team members.

Former Archbold Memorial Hospital President, Dr. Jim Story, and his wife, Carolyn, founded the Rose City Run events in 1978. The judged 5k walk was added soon after and has been an Archbold tradition for decades. We are thankful for their continued dedication to our community and our friends at the Thomasville YMCA, who help carry on the tradition today.

Will Watt, Director of Employee Engagement & Training, is pictured with the Wellness Award. He is a volunteer with the Rose City Walk and the driving force behind Archbold’s continued participation in this event. Thank you for all you do, Will!

Most people think heart disease always looks the same—chest pain, shortness of breath, maybe even an emergency room visit.

But not all heart conditions are that obvious.

Some develop quietly, with subtle signs like ongoing fatigue, swelling in the legs, or getting winded just walking cross the room. It’s easy to brush these off as normal aging or typical heart failure.

In some cases, though, the cause is something far less known: cardiac amyloidosis (ATTR-CM).

Learn how to recognize the signs and why early awareness matters in our latest blog post featuring Archbold cardiologist, Dr. Kashyap Choksi.

There’s no better source of information about a healthcare provider than their patients. Hearing about patients' positive experiences gives you confidence when choosing a provider or practice.

These quotes are just some of the positive feedback Dr. Eric Webb and the team at Archbold Urology have received from patients in the last year.

We are grateful for the trust Archbold’s patients have placed in our team. To learn more, please visit www.archbold.org.

In celebration of National Volunteer Week, we’re recognizing some of the dedicated
and compassionate members of the Archbold Auxiliary who serve patients and
support the hospital in a variety of important roles.

Peyton Cosby’s journey at Archbold began with a desire to explore a future in healthcare. “I was interested in a career in healthcare and wanted to gain experience working in a hospital,” she explained.

As part of the Archbold Auxiliary's Junior Volunteer program, she served in the emergency department, where she quickly discovered what made the experience so meaningful. “The experience I gained and the feeling of making someone’s day a little bit better when they aren’t having a good day” became the most rewarding part of her time there.

Peyton recently began working as an ED tech in the same department where she once volunteered. She encourages other young people to follow a similar path, sharing, “I had a very rewarding experience.” Peyton remains grateful for the program that provided “a great jump start” to her future nursing career at Archbold.

Thank you for your service to Archbold and your community, Peyton!

For more than a century, volunteers have supported the hospital and served patients in a variety of roles. From comforting patients to supporting careers in medicine through scholarships, Auxiliary members make a difference every day. In celebration of National Volunteer Week, we’re recognizing some of the dedicated and compassionate members of the Archbold Auxiliary who serve patients and support the hospital in a variety of important roles.

When Jenny Jones’ son was hospitalized in Minneapolis and at Shepherd Center in Atlanta, her family had their first experience with trained therapy dogs.

“It meant so much to me and my grown kids,” she recalled about the dogs that comforted patients in both hospitals, “to get lost in their comfort for a few minutes.”

That experience planted a seed that grew into a dream to serve her local community and Archbold patients with trained therapy dogs. Inspired by that impact, she and her dog Buddy have begun volunteering as a therapy team at the hospital in Thomasville.

“Bringing joy to someone who is going through a hard time” is what she finds most rewarding, she shared, describing the sense of purpose it brings to both her and Buddy.

Though they are just beginning their journey, Jenny views this opportunity as the fulfillment of a long-held dream. “It started with a dream, and now we’ve been given this opportunity,” she said with gratitude. She hopes to spread comfort and connection to as many people as possible and enthusiastically recommends volunteering to others.

Thank you for your service to Archbold and your community, Julia and Buddy!
