The death care field has long been a male-dominated profession. Women now represent 43% of those in the funeral profession. With the rise of women in death care, the profession has grown significantly, bringing a more empathic, creative, and loving touch to the field of death care. Today we celebrate those women who strive everyday to create a more beautiful and comforting atmosphere to the bereft and the loved ones we care for.

At Shook Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, we want to honor and thank the women who work hard every day to bring comfort, compassion, and creativity to our funeral home. The love and care that comes from the hearts of these remarkable women is never ending and we appreciate them more and more every day.

To honor and celebrate the hard work and dedication of our Funeral Directors and Morticians, March 11th has been deemed National Funeral Director's and Mortician's Day. In honor of the upcoming day of recognition, one of our skilled, licensed Morticians here at Shook Family Funeral Homes, Megan Johansen was interviewed by The Advertiser-Tribune, Tiffin OH. She hopes to shed a little light on the profession that is often overlooked. Our staff is always ready to serve our families with compassion and care, while honoring the loved ones in our care.
