Introducing our new therapist Terri Funk, MFT!

She is a Master's Level Marriage and Family Therapist who graduated from Valdosta State University.

"My ideal clients recognize a need for change and are ready to work toward creating it. Whether change is needed in the relationship to self or with others, I can help. Intimate partners seeking trust and/or connection, young adults overwhelmed by choices, adults dealing with aging and sandwiched between children and parents - I hold space for you to express needs, desires, and frustrations.
My background experience is working with trauma, sexual trauma, betrayal, family enmeshment, boundary creation, grief, and mid-life issues. I equip clients with insight and new perspectives, while challenging beliefs that keep them stuck. I approach therapy from a non-judgmental stance which means I believe clients make decisions that fit their context.
Everyone will face moments in life when change is needed. Sometimes, asking another person for help is frightening. I consider what sitting across from me is like and approach therapy from a place of kindness, positive regard, and hope for a better tomorrow. I invite you to take a chance on finding a more enjoyable, fitting path forward."

She has availability as soon as next week!

October is Bullying Prevention Month! This month, we dedicate time to learning about the ways bullying can be prevented and victims can be supported. Bullying can come in many different forms such as physical, emotional, verbal, sexual, and cyber harassment. They all fall under the umbrella of bullying. While some forms of bullying are overt and noticeable, other forms are subtle and hard to catch. The damage bullying can cause has the potential to be extensive and life-altering. Educating yourself and others on how they can help stop bullying can go a long way in helping those affected by it.

October was first declared as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month in 1989. Since then, October has been a time to acknowledge domestic violence survivors and be a voice for its victims. Domestic violence is prevalent in every community, and affects all people regardless of age, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, gender, race, religion, or nationality. Physical violence is often accompanied by emotionally abusive and controlling behavior as part of a much larger, systematic pattern of dominance and control. Domestic violence can result in physical injury, psychological trauma, and even death. The devastating consequences of domestic violence can cross generations and last a lifetime. Millions of Americans live in daily, silent fear within their own homes. In addition, every year millions of children are exposed to domestic violence. Domestic violence incidents affect every person within a home and can have long-lasting negative effects on children's emotional well-being, and social and academic functioning.
