Late-night snacks might satisfy a craving, but they can also invite cavities. When you eat right before bed (especially sugary or starchy foods), those particles stick around while your saliva production slows down overnight. That gives bacteria extra time to work, which can lead to tooth decay.

Here are a few tips to protect your smile at night:
➡️ Avoid snacking after brushing your teeth
➡️ Choose water instead of sugary drinks before bed
➡️ Stick to tooth-friendly snacks like cheese or nuts if you must eat late
➡️ Keep up with regular brushing and flossing before bedtime
➡️ Schedule routine cleanings to stay ahead of decay

Protect your teeth before you sleep - your smile will thank you in the morning.

Only 31% of adults floss daily, and 1 in 5 never floss at all, but flossing is one of the most important steps in your oral health routine.

Brushing only cleans about 60% of the surface area of your teeth. Flossing reaches the spaces in between, removing plaque and food particles your toothbrush can’t touch. Skipping it allows bacteria to build up, increasing the risk of cavities and gum disease.

Flossing Tips for a Healthier Smile:
☑️ Floss at least once a day, before or after brushing
☑️ Use enough floss (about 18 inches) and wrap it around your fingers for control
☑️ Gently curve the floss around each tooth and move it up and down
☑️ Don’t forget the back of your last molars
☑️ Try floss picks or water flossers if traditional floss is tricky

Every little habit adds up to a healthier smile!

November is TMJ Awareness Month! If you’ve ever experienced jaw pain, clicking, headaches, or difficulty chewing, it could be related to a TMJ disorder.

Your TMJ (temporomandibular joint) connects your jawbone to your skull, helping you speak, chew, and yawn. When this joint is inflamed or misaligned, it can lead to discomfort and long-term issues if left untreated.

Common signs of TMJ disorders include:
➡️ Jaw pain or tenderness
➡️ Popping or clicking sounds when opening the mouth
➡️ Frequent headaches or earaches
➡️ Stiffness in the jaw or neck
➡️ Difficulty chewing or opening your mouth fully

You don’t have to live with chronic jaw pain. If you’re experiencing symptoms, Fulp Family Dentistry can help you find answers and relief. Call us to schedule a consultation at (229) 382-7996.

Brushing and flossing at home are essential for good oral hygiene, but they only go so far. Even with the best routine, plaque can build up in hard-to-reach areas, and over time, it hardens into tartar that you can’t remove with a toothbrush.

That’s where professional cleanings come in. Routine dental cleanings help prevent cavities, gum disease, and other issues before they become serious. They also give our team a chance to check in on your overall oral health and catch problems early-when they’re easier and less costly to treat.

If it’s been six months or more since your last visit, now’s the time to schedule. Call Fulp Family Dentistry today at 229-382-7996 to make your appointment.

Sticky candies like gummies and caramels can linger on your teeth longer than you think. Chocolate is a better option since it rinses away more easily. Be sure to drink water and brush after snacking. A little care goes a long way in avoiding post-Halloween cavities.

Healthy Smile Halloween Checklist:
☑️ Choose chocolate over sticky candies
☑️ Rinse with water after eating sweets
☑️ Brush before bed (no skipping!)
☑️ Set a candy time limit
☑️ Schedule a post-Halloween cleaning if it’s been a while

Time to test your knowledge with a quick quiz:
How long should you brush your teeth?
A) 30 seconds
B) 1 minute
C) 2 minutes
D) Until your toothbrush gives out

If you guessed C, you're right!
Brushing for two full minutes helps remove more plaque and keeps your enamel protected. Try setting a timer or using an electric brush with a built-in timer - your smile deserves it!
