Chewing sugar-free gum can help freshen your breath and even boost saliva production, which helps wash away food particles. But it’s no substitute for brushing and flossing. Gum doesn’t remove plaque or clean between teeth the way your toothbrush and floss can. So while gum can be a helpful addition, it’s not a replacement, brushing twice a day is still the gold standard.

If it has been a while since your last cleaning, give us a call! (229) 382-7996

Cold weather can make sensitive teeth feel even more uncomfortable, especially when breathing in chilly air or sipping hot and cold drinks. Tooth sensitivity often results from worn enamel, exposed roots, or underlying dental issues. Using a toothpaste designed for sensitive teeth and avoiding extreme temperatures in food and drink can help ease discomfort. It’s also important to brush gently with a soft-bristled toothbrush. If sensitivity persists, schedule a visit with Fulp Family Dentistry to rule out any deeper concerns.

Think you know how often to swap out your toothbrush? Many people hold onto theirs for too long, which can affect how well it cleans your teeth. Worn-out bristles don’t remove plaque as effectively and can even harbor bacteria. The American Dental Association recommends replacing your toothbrush every three to four months, or sooner if the bristles are frayed. When was the last time you changed yours?

Do you ever wake up with sore jaws, headaches, or notice your teeth feel worn down? These can be signs of teeth grinding, clenching, or a TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorder.

Your TMJ is the joint that connects your jaw to your skull. It works hard every day when you chew, speak, or yawn. When it’s overworked or strained, it can cause ongoing discomfort.
Common signs of TMJ issues include:
➡️ Jaw pain or tightness
➡️ Clicking or popping sounds when opening your mouth
➡️ Frequent headaches or earaches
➡️ Tooth wear from clenching or grinding
➡️ Difficulty opening your mouth fully

The good news: relief is possible. From custom night guards to treatment plans designed around your needs, we can help protect your teeth and ease the strain on your jaw. If these symptoms sound familiar, let’s talk. We’re here to help you find comfort and keep your smile healthy.
