When I opened Mettā, I wanted to fill the walls with beautiful art. Over the years, I’ve acquired many pieces, especially from friends.
is one of my best friends and one of the most luminous, vivacious, magnetic, extremely generous, and creative souls I’ve ever met. She has more pure and raw talent than any artist I’ve met.
She creates simply for the joy it brings her. She has so many beautiful works laying around her home. I begged her to let me display them at the clinic. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do.

And a little bit about Patrizia - She is an Italian photographer, born and raised in Milan. She grew up surrounded by her loving family, history & art, and delicious Italian cuisine. Her summers spent in southern Italy taught her to appreciate la dolce vita – the sweetness and elegance of the simple life – and a deep appreciation for beauty, community, and storytelling. Through her global travels – from New York to Amsterdam, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Dallas, before settling in Portland, Oregon – her perspective has broadened and her eye widended. Inspired by the people and places she’s encountered, her creativity transitioned from portrait and figure painting to photography. Portraits remain her true passion – capturing the essence of individuals and their stories. Her photography business has thrived through word-of-mouth, encompassing portraits, fashion, products, and food for clients worldwide.

Patrizia did all the photos for my website. She helped me create my space. I am forever indebted. She helped me learn to see myself and create what resonated for me. To see her photography you can visit .photography .

✨ It takes time for a vision to come to life. When you’re in the middle of building something, it’s easy to lose sight of how far you’ve actually come.

As a small business owner, I’m constantly refining — learning, adjusting, growing. Some ideas I thought would work didn’t. My vision, goals, wants, and needs have shifted. I started this clinic in one direction, only to realize there was another path that felt more aligned — one that required sweeping (and honestly, scary) change.
Since COVID, and with the current state of the economy, my business has faced challenges I never saw coming. There are moments I ask myself, What am I doing? Is it helping? Is it worth it? Will I ever feel like I truly have it all together?

Then nights like last night happen — magical, peaceful, grounding. A room full of people from all walks of life came together with one shared intention: to heal, to find stillness, to reconnect with themselves and with each other.
After the sound bath, so many stayed behind to share how much they needed that peace. Addiction specialists, nurses, teachers, parents — the ultimate givers and nurturers — looking for a way to refill their own cups. To pause. To breathe. To simply be.

And in that moment, I was reminded why I’m creating this space at Mettā. People need a safe space. A quiet space. Stillness. Nights like that remind me exactly what I’m here to do.

A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who joined us last night. 💛

And a huge shout-out to , who held space so beautifully and guided us through a deeply soothing meditation. I feel so grateful to be building community alongside her.

Our next Halloween Sound Bath is this Saturday (it’s already full!), but don’t worry — we’ll be hosting two more in November. Stay tuned!

This was too sweet not to share. As most of you know, there’s a facility pup in training at the clinic - Nora. She’s brought a ridiculous amount of joy to everyone she meets. I’ve officially become a wiener dog Mom and I own it! 🤣

My amazing client crocheted Nora!!! It honestly made my day (maybe even year) to receive such a thoughtful and heartfelt gift. I might be crying in the breakroom. 😭

I would also totally wear a crocheted wiener dog sweater. Just saying.

and I are especially excited to be hosting this upcoming workshop at the Clinic!

Where are all my healthcare providers — LMTs, ND’s, LAc’s, OT’s, Nurses, CNAs, First Responders, and those caregiving for family or friends? This one’s for you. 💛

We do so much to nurture and care for others, yet it’s easy to forget to care for ourselves. This workshop is designed to help you:

🌿 Differentiate your energy from others

🌿 Recognize the difference between porous and intuitive boundaries

🌿 Leave work feeling whole, not drained

Join us at the Clinic as former CNA and Chinese Medicine student Amalia Ibarra and Toni Cornett, Reiki Master, BSW, RYT-200, guide us through active, restorative steps to protect and replenish our energy.

Let’s fill our own cups so we can continue to pour into others — from a place of balance and vitality. 💫

There have been lots of exciting changes transpiring at Mettā Holistic Health. I’d like to share with you all that I’ve hired my first employee!
Meet Nora. She’s just 10 weeks old. She’s a Minature English Cream Daschund. I have wanted a service/facility dog for a long time. The goal is for her to put clients at ease and love on them when they’re needing it. I loved that she would always be small. She’s easy to take anywhere, small enough for folks to be comfortable with and even sit on the table if they are wanting that.
We got her two weeks ago and it’s crazy how much she has impacted our lives and those around her. People have literally stopped traffic to see her. We’ve met neighbors who’ve asked us if we’re new in town. 😂😂😂😂 Nope, we just actually socialize now. Young or old, all genders and races. She brings everyone together and brings everyone she meets pure joy.
I showed a picture of her to one of my professors. The first thing he noticed were her eyes (we did, too). He said, “you know she picked you both, right?” Suddenly my eyes filled with tears because I knew what he meant. Already she has taught me to be more present (which is hard for me). She also teaches us patience (also a hard one for me 😂). She’s curious, fearless (she loves riding on the motorcycle), and so very sweet.
We’re just about to start her training. She’s still a wee little lass so we have to wait a bit but I’m bringing her in to start getting her used to the clinic. For friends and family that are open, I bring her in for training prep. As you can see in the photos, she’s quite comfortable. The only time it’s okay to be sleeping on the job.
Anyways, I can’t wait for you to meet her soon and I know she’s excited to meet you. She’s kinda a local celebrity around town. Hope she doesn’t turn into a Diva. 😂

First day of my Observation Rotation in Clinic. I’m not allowed to do anything, touch anything, chart anything, or really even speak but it’s still an exciting baby-step on the way to becoming an Acupuncturist. 😂

When my Grandmother passed my Mom gave me several sentimental pieces, two of which are a Jade ring and a ceramic vase pin. She’s always put a flower in it and pinned it to her dressy knit outfits. Shawn pinned the Vase on me today (which meant a lot to me) so I could have my Grandma with me in clinic. I am also wearing her Jade ring which is funny because Jade is an incredibly important stone in Chinese Medicine. I’m a total believer there are no coincidences!

I’m often told by intuitives that my Grandmother is very present with me. One of them said she is overjoyed that I am walking into this realm. When I told my Mom this she mentioned that my Grandma actually got Acupuncture often. I never knew this. Again, I just don’t think this is a coincidence. 💚🪡

Anyway, hope to see lots of people getting the medicine they need today.

We learned a new thing in class, today. I present to you (drum roll, please), Moxa! 🌿

Moxa is made from dried Mugwort. Moxa promotes blood circulation and qi, so it is helpful for pain, which occurs when blood or qi stagnates. There are SO many more uses for it but I’ll keep it short and sweet. Although, do you know Moxa can help flip a breeched baby?! Okay, I’ll stop now. 😂 You burn it over or on the body and I gotta tell you, the heat feels divine.

Our instructor, Dr. Ken Glowacki says “Moxa is basically concentrated sunlight. It has a deep infrared signature.” It also smells amazing in my humble opinion.

I am a student so I am not permitted to practice outside of school BUT next time you see your Acupuncturist, do inquire about it.

My heart feels good this morning. I had the opportunity to connect with my fellow Chinese Medicine Cohort as well as folks from the ND program. It was so nice to be outside of school, not nose deep in our books, and learn something hands-on that we can use for self-care. I don’t think there’s anyone more stressed out than a Grad student. 😂

I am really grateful for the grace everyone gave me as it was officially my first workshop I’ve formally taught. I hope everyone learned a bunch. I know I learned a lot from everyone. I didn’t just learn how to be a better instructor but I learned that I’m extremely self-critical. I was worried no one would show up, what if my power point slides sucked, what if I didn’t have enough Vegan options for food, what if I forgot things (I did but I also didn’t die), what if I struggled to explain things clearly, did I have enough teaching aids, what if someone asked a question I didn’t know the answer to. . . . the list goes on. Anyways, whoah, that’s an exhausting way to be. The class reflected back to me that I need to be kinder to myself.

I also just want to say that anytime someone says they did something with no help from anyone, EVER, I’m a bit skeptical. I am grateful that my Mom went food shopping with me and helped my cook and plate the food. I’m grateful for my partner that helped me move all my office furniture and set-up class. I’m grateful for my friends that loaned me Massage tables, I’m grateful to my classmates that helped me wash dishes (thank you ), take out trash, and sanitize the MILLIONS of cups we used, I’m grateful for the huge group that showed up. . . . . I most certainly did not do this on my own. It takes a village. Thank you to my village! ❤️

I asked my parents if they wanted to come over for dinner so I could practice palpating Acupuncture Points. True to form, my Dad shuffled through the door and ate a delicious meal (which had onions in it even though he claims to hate onions), he had his glass of red wine (he’s basically Italian now), the football game was on, and I had dessert ready to go after my study sesh. The man gets the royal treatment! Can you believe I had to do all that just to get him to help in my pursuit of a Higher Education?! 😂

All kidding aside, I’m grateful my parents are so supportive. (Also, my siblings have ALL received Acupuncture.Their sister may be the hippy in the family but they know good medicine when they feel it)! My parents believe in what I am doing. They know the benefits of Chinese Medicine because they’ve also felt it and seen it.

My Mom is a retired Nurse so it means a lot to me that she see’s the value of this Medicine, even if it’s different than the Medicine she learned.

As a Massage Therapist, I know every body is incredibly different. When you go to feel something on one person, it will feel completely different on the next. My teacher reminded us to practice on as many different folks as possible. It’s why I had my parents over. They are old, er, I mean wise. They’re very wise. 😂 When trying to find points in the Lung and Large Intestine Channels I use landmarks in the body to help guide me. Well, because my parent are so “wise,” it means there will be more wrinkles, er, I mean signs of a life well lived. Okay, I’m going to stop here before my parents kill me. Just know they helped me learn a lot.
