ADHD Child & Family Services is a small private practice that is located in Tigard, Oregon. We provide specialized mental and behavioral health services to children, teens, young adults, and parents who are struggling with ADHD. Our practice opened in July 2019. We focus on treating symptoms of ADHD. Our clients may also struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief/loss, relationship issues, emotional regulation, and/or lagging social skills. We currently have more demand for our services than we are able to meet. We are looking for full-time or part-time therapists. We are open Monday through Saturday, 9am-6pm.

We are looking for qualified applicants who enjoy working with children younger than 12, with a strong background in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) or similar. We have an art studio for Art Therapists and a playroom for Play Therapists. Toys and art supplies are provided. Our clients tend to be creative, energetic, bright, out-of-the-box thinkers who need support with impulse control, emotional regulation, navigating friendships, and developing their sense of self.

The majority of our clients and families pay with private insurance so licensure is a must. We will provide professional liability insurance, insurance paneling, and clients. Appointments can be offered via teletherapy or at our clinic. Licensed therapist position entails providing direct clinical services (including assessment and treatment planning) in a collaborative and positive work environment.

Qualifications:

Utilization of EHR for client record-keeping and scheduling.
Furnished office space.
Flexible hours. You can design your own schedule.
Opportunity to connect with other clinicians for consultation and referral sharing.
Training and professional development opportunities.
We will assist you with getting paneled with insurance companies and pay for your professional liability insurance.
Care coordination and case management support.
Group therapy and workshops for your clients.
We will manage payments, billing, and processing insurance claims.

Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation is based on billed hours.
Salary range $40,000-$70,000 + Bonus (depending on billed weekly hours). We offer medical and dental benefits to all of our full-time therapists and staff.

If you are qualified and meet all the above criteria, please email a CV/resume and cover letter explaining why you think you would be a good fit for the position.

Hello friends and clients of ADHD Child & Family Services! Thank you all for your amazing support. We are so grateful for our wonderful clients.

Due to the steep increase in COVID related illnesses, we are asking our clients to return to teletherapy and reserving office appointments for urgent situations (for your safety and ours). We hope this will be a temporary measure.

Wishing you all wellness and resilience.

Dear families, Due to the concerning rise in COVID cases, and the governor's new mandate, we will only offer teletherapy appointments for the foreseeable future. I know this is very difficult for parents with young children, but our goal is to keep you all healthy and well. We will of course make arrangements to meet with clients who have an urgent situation, but we will reserve that option for critical need only.
Thank you for your understanding.

I just want to thank our wonderful clients and families for their ongoing support. We are actively looking to add more therapists to our team so we can accept more clients soon.

I found this published in the New York Times this morning:

After weeks cooped up together, our family of five can get testy and critical. To change the negative climate, we labeled five cups with each person’s name and lined them up on the windowsill. When someone is being kind, we drop a poker chip in their Kindness Cup. A full cup allows that person to choose a dessert for the family — that way, everyone benefits from each other’s acts of kindness.

Are you feeling a loss of connection? Is social distancing getting tiresome? Help your child bridge the divide while creating simple cards for friends, grandparents, or even a teacher who might be feeling the same way.

Materials:
Small scraps of fabric
Yarn, ribbon, or lace
Liquid glue
Heavy paper
Envelope + stamp

Fold a heavy piece of paper (or paper bag) in half and decorate the outside with scraps of paper. While your child is working encourage them to talk about the person they are missing. After they have covered the outside of the card with scraps, help them make up and write a message inside. When they are finished, talk about how they feel when they make something special to give to the people they love.

Addressing, stamping, and mailing the envelope can be part of the fun too.

Becoming ADHD Child & Family Services

In the mental health profession, I find that we often spend more time discussing the symptoms and challenges that go along with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD/ADD), and we spend less time on the potential benefits. In my work with parents, I often repeat “wherever you focus your attention, you will see growth.”

When parents or children repeatedly hear words like “dysfunction” or “impairment” or “symptoms,” I worry that we define ADHD too narrowly. Or worse, we inadvertently sow seeds of hopelessness or shame. ADHD is complex, it is diverse, and for many people it is a daily part of their lives. There is a lot of potential beauty and awesomeness that can go along with ADHD. When we understand its complexity and look at it from a broader lens, I think we develop a greater sense of compassion and awe.

Our vision for ADHD Child & Family Services is to celebrate neurodiversity. We all benefit when more more out-of-the-box, spontaneous, curious, and passionate people are able to make meaningful contributions to our world. Our services are designed to help kids and families get the support they need, and discover strategies that help them do their thing the best way they can.
