Spring is the air! With warmer days upon us, we look forward to enjoying our courtyards for another season. We'll soon be sharing photos of our veterans enjoying our beautiful campus in the fresh New Hampshire air. We thank Kevin Scott for sponsoring our bingo today! We had lots of appreciative winners. With our walking group, Dungeons & Dragons, volleyball, and visits with Molly, we saw so much energy. And, since our veterans are an important part of our decisions and choices, residents gathered for our food committee meeting today, too.

Today was a lovely day here at the New Hampshire Veterans Zoo – excuse us, we mean Home! 🦁Today’s fun, Wacky Wednesday animals theme was in honor of national Zoo Lovers Day. 🐻The Rockin Daddios provided a wonderful musical performance with much singing talent - a ca****la and piano accompaniment. Add in a trip to Wyatts Family Restaurant, our wonderful volunteers who spent time with our residents, games of kickball, great haircuts in our Barbershop, another nice coffee social, and it was another great day!

One of our favorites traditions are our Resident Spotlights. We were honored to recognize Clint Clay and David Moore this month at our Updates & Spotlights with the Commandant meeting! Clint also happens to be Commandant Kim MacKay's dad. Congratulations to them both. Shout out also to the Pelham 10722 VFW and Auxiliary for sponsoring our special bingo. We had some big winners - with big smiles, thanks to their support. Molly the dog is essentially a celebrity here - and she poses like one, too! So cute. More shining fun was shared with our wonderful Sunshine Cart volunteers. Thank you!

Sharing more of our fun from this week...
On Tuesday, we received a wonderful donation of solar lights for our pavilions from the Concord Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1631 and Concord VFW Auxiliary 1631, delivered by Paul & Theresa. Thank you! We look forward to longer nights enjoying our courtyards! Marlena Phillips entertained us with many classics, and we said 'See you Soon' to Launa as she joined us for her last day before retirement - and before returning part-time in a few weeks! On Wednesday, we enjoyed posing for more April Fools shenanigans, and on Thursday, we ventured out to You're Fired and Olive Garden for delicious food and creative fun. All of this is possible thanks to donors to our Resident Benefit Fund. We sincerely appreciate you!

What a great day! Not only was it our Red Sox Home Opener party, complete with Fenway Franks, but we also received an amazing donation from the American Legion Post 46 Conway, NH: flag cases, Korean War pins, a shiny new grill for our cookouts and a donation check. Wow! We're so appreciative of your thoughtfulness, Post 46!
Today also had us enjoying golfing, bean bag toss and more. Being Friday, we also wore RED, our weekly tradition to Remember Everyone Deployed.
Our sincere thanks to all who made it such an amazing day!

We're very excited to be rolling out our new NHVH website later this month! Once our new website has all of the finishing touches finalized, you will soon be able to easily find updated information on:
- becoming a resident
- supporting our home via donations
- volunteering
- joining our employee team
- and more
The new NHVH website will share many new pictures, resource links, NHVH department information, resident spotlights, video tour, and more. If you've bookmarked our current site, it's not too soon to update the bookmark to our NEW site address: www.veteranshome.nh.gov
You'll be brought to our current site no matter which one you use until our new website is made 'live'. (Our current, retiring site - www.nh.gov/veterans - will work for a few months after our new site is launched.)
We look forward to shouting it from the rooftops when our new site is ready for visitors!

Today we were forced to keep our residents inside with nothing to do. No smiles. No fun.

Of course…APRIL FOOLS. Our Wacky Wednesday theme today was all about wearing something that makes you smile or laugh – and oh boy did we get some smiles today! A big thanks to Heather (our chicken) and Stephanie (for providing the hotdog - and cheeseburger, who was too busy taking pics to be in them😉). Hiker was also a “hot” dog today who caused many smiles himself. Thank you, Hiker! Check out some of the artwork our residents painted today. We’re so happy to share that we have two new flagpoles, thanks to Granite Shore Power with support from Flag-Works over America for this amazing donation. We are thrilled - and that's no foolin'!

We are blessed to have special moments daily here on the hill in Tilton. Three recent ones include:
- A visit and generous donation from the Sons of The American Legion Post 59. Support like this allows us to do many great things for our veterans. Not only did they bring a monetary donation, but they also brought handmade goodies from the Post family and Easter cards from the community!
- Francis Love shared the documentary in which he was filmed, and
- Alan Lee shared a documentary featuring his Unit 116 in Vietnam - the most decorated unit in that era , securing the riverways.

Dignity. Honor. Respect. These three important words of our mission statement were in abundance today, thanks to the Patriot Piecemakers, Quilts of Valor whose dedicated volunteers presented beautiful handmade quilts to five more of our veterans who were touched by war - in this instance, the Vietnam War. Each quilt is handmade, personalized, then, when presented, wrapped over veterans with love and warmth to honor their service. We congratulate Leonard Coombes, Wayne Gadwah, Jim Fenimore, Alan Lee, and Stephen Sayewich. Welcome Home!
Also on today's agenda was the delightful River the dog, cribbage, and tai chi. It was an amazing start to our week.
