This past Thursday and Friday, I had the pleasure of instructing the CNA students with the Tiverton High School CTE program. These 10 students will graduate with a full CNA license and be ready to go to the work force while continuing their nursing education. Not knowing what to expect as I was brought in for the CPR, AED, and First Aid training, these students were on their game and already had a ton of the basic knowledge we went over. That is a testament to the nurse teaching the program, the Health/PE educators at Tiverton High School, and the dedication of the CTE Coordinator Ms. Cusamano.

I am fortunate to receive this citation from the Tiverton VFW Post. I was nominated, along with two additional civilians and the Tiverton Fire crew that responded to the incident, by the Tiverton Fire Chief. Bystander CPR and access to an AED is paramount in giving a sudden cardiac arrest victim a chance at survival. Fortunately Tiverton Recreation, under the leadership of Stu Gilfillen, was instrumental in placing AEDs at recreation areas a few years back.

As a former firefighter/EMT, it is humbling but appreciated to be recognized! Thank you to my wife and 2 (of 3) kids for being there as well.

Great to be back at East Providence Medical Center. Excellent class and fun staff!

I had the pleasure of attending St. Michael's Country Day School in Newport to instruct the 8th grade class. We did a two day, two part class on CPR, and First Aid and covered heart attack and choking as well. The class was well behaved and they all took a ton of notes!
