When Steve Wheeler and his wife, Cindy, were both diagnosed with cancer just months apart, Steve found solace in a small sketchbook and a set of watercolors. 🖌
What started as a way to pass the time during treatments at Highpoint Health - Sumner became a mission of hope.
Steve began gifting his paintings to fellow patients and our hardworking nurses, often pairing them with uplifting scriptures. Now, his beautiful work has a permanent home in our hospital chapel.

We are incredibly proud to announce Sophia Hernandez, RN from our Highpoint Health - Sumner Emergency Department, as our Q4 DAISY Award winner!🌼

Sophia was nominated by a young patient following a serious motorcycle accident. In a moment filled with fear and uncertainty, he shared that Sophia's calm presence made him feel safe, respected, and truly seen as a human being—not just a patient on a chart. From her gentle explanations to her unwavering kindness, she turned a chaotic night into a peaceful recovery.
