Tonight we got to say thank you to two of the main people that saved Elijah’s life. Our county dispatchers are our behind the scenes hero’s that rarely get talked about or recognized, but these ladies went above and beyond to help my son. Caitlin Philips took the call and instead of treating this as an accidental call like most people would have she stayed on the line(because she heard him breathing, even though no one else could) because she stayed on the line they were able to get his location that they otherwise couldn’t have. Sherry Tripp dispatched officers to multiple locations to locate him and EMS to the location as well as helped getting the helicopter out for him. I don’t know how many times they get accidental 911 calls or prank calls but they didn’t just blow this off. They took it seriously and because of them Elijah is alive. It’s amazing to hear how God was answering prayers before anyone of us even knew to pray.

Elijah had his neuro ophthalmology appointment at Emory and his vision in back to 100% and no visual field deficits! Just another step in the right direction. I’m still in awe of how God has healed him.

To some it’s just another day, but to us it is so much more! Elijah is back to regular school today for the first time. It’s hard to imagine what life would be like if all those doctors were right. They said he probably wouldn’t survive. They said if he did he may never walk or talk again, but my God said He has bigger plans. This is just another step in the direction God is taking this boy and this family. I can’t wait to see how God uses him in high school.

Also on a side note, I have had my issues with Stephens County Schools and I was very worried how this would go but I have to say they have been absolutely amazing. I can’t say enough for how they have encouraged Elijah and set it up to make this as easy as it could be. There are countless people that have been amazing and helped in so many ways. They have given him everything he needs and more to help him be successful.

Elijah had his LAST appointment with the neurosurgeon yesterday. On that end he has been completely cleared, one more big step on this road to recovery! We will still continue all his therapy and have a few other doctors we have to see but just another step in the right direction and one less appointment to worry about!

Newest update on Elijah, he went back to CHOA yesterday to see his doctor there and they were very happy with his progress so far. They want us to continue therapy just like we have been(2 days a week) and check back again in 6 months. He has been doing well with hospital home bound school and getting close to being caught up. He is working towards starting back to school next semester, so we have a lot of appointments and things to get this set up with the school. As good as that news was from his follow up appointment with CHOA on the way home from Atlanta my car broke down. We got a new battery put in it to finally make it back home but now think the alternator is bad. Be praying since we are already a car down with Rylee’s engine being blown in her car. We have to have my car to get to all his appointments and have it run well enough to continue with the high mileage we are putting on it lately. Thank you all for your continued prayers and support!

Most of you know, Elijah had a traumatic brain injury on June 6th. I was out of work for almost… Jacob Sweat needs your support for Help for Elijah and family

09/19/2022

This is not necessarily an update about Elijah but for myself(Jacob).

Feeling a lot like Job from the Bible lately, it seems satan is trying his best to destroy me and my family. I haven’t posted this update because I was never quite sure what to say, but I am posting now to ask for prayers. I am no longer employed with Stephens County Hospital. I was let go on September 2nd due to my “job being done away with”. As many of you know, I was out of work for almost 3 months on FMLA with Elijah and was set to start back on September 5th, but the hospital decided to “do away with my position” instead. Those that know me know I love to help people and loved the work I did. I hope during my time here I was able to impact you or your family if you ever had the misfortune of being in the hospital. I will miss all my work family very much and will miss getting to help people in their time of need. I am still praying for God to move me in the direction He wants for me and this was obviously His way of closing that door. Be praying I will be able to find a good job that will allow me to serve others and honor God while not taking too much time away from my family and their needs, especially with all Elijah is going through. Also please don’t ask what happened or why because I really don’t understand or really know myself, but thank you all for your continued support and prayers!

We are home! He was not a fan of getting the drainage tubing out, but he is thankful to be home. Still hurting a little and tired but overall doing great! It looks so weird for me seeing him without the big dent or without a helmet on.

Finally to his room, complaining of a headache but overall doing good.
