National Drug Take Back Day is coming up on Saturday, May 2, 2026! đź’Š
This year, we are partnering with the Center for Wellness and Recovery and the Toccoa Elks Lodge to host a National Drug Take Back Day event in coordination with the DEA's effort to safely dispose of prescription medication.
If you have unwanted, unused, or expired prescription pills, tablets, or patches, you can drop them off outside the Stephens County Courthouse located at 70 North Alexander Street in Toccoa. This event is free to the public, and all medications will be accepted. However, sharps, needles, and liquids will not be allowed.
The goal of a Drug Take Back Day is to promote overall community health and wellness by ensuring prescription medication is disposed of properly – NOT into our local water system by flushing it down a toilet. By ensuring proper disposal of potentially harmful drugs, we are better able to protect children and pets from accidental ingestion or overdose and reduce environmental contamination.
