✨ In 2026, Choose a New Perspective ✨

A new year isn’t about waiting for the “right time.” It’s about deciding that today matters!

At New Perspectives Sober Living, we believe growth doesn’t come from excuses — it comes from intention paired with action. Recovery is built in daily choices: showing up, staying accountable, asking for support, and doing the work even when it’s uncomfortable.

In 2026, we’re inviting our community to:
• Set clear intentions — not empty promises
• Take responsibility for progress, not perfection
• Replace excuses with effort and honesty
• Commit to routines that support sober living
• Choose healing, structure, and accountability every day

Sober living, trauma care, behavioral health, and mental wellness all require participation. Change doesn’t happen by chance — it happens when intention turns into consistent action.

This year, don’t just hope for a better outcome.
Work for it. Show up for it. Own it.

A new year.
A new standard.
A new perspective.

🎄✨ How to Win the Holidays: Supporting Kids Through Big Feelings ✨🎄
From New Perspectives

The holidays can be magical — and messy. When children start acting out, it’s often their way of saying something feels off. Understanding the why helps us respond with care instead of conflict.

Why Kids Act Out
• Routine disruption: Changes to sleep, meals, and daily structure can feel unsettling.
• Overstimulation: New places, lots of people, noise, and excitement can overwhelm their senses.
• Unmet needs: Tired, hungry, or anxious kids may show it through behavior — not words.

How to Listen & Respond
• Provide clarity & predictability: Explain the plan (who, when, where).
• Offer choices: Simple options (“ham or turkey?”) help restore a sense of control.
• Stay connected: A few minutes of focused time — reading, walking, talking — goes a long way.
• Teach coping skills: Deep breathing, quiet time, or stepping outside can reset emotions.
• Model calm: How you handle stress teaches them how to handle theirs.
• Validate feelings: Start with “I see you’re frustrated” before problem-solving.
• Simplify: Keep routines when possible and say “no” to extra events if needed.

When Behavior Is Problematic
• Stay calm: Address issues with a steady voice — don’t just react.
• Be consistent: Clear rules and follow-through build safety.
• Focus on one thing: Tackle one or two key behaviors at a time.
• Set them up to succeed: Create opportunities for positive choices.

Winning the holidays isn’t about perfection — it’s about connection, patience, and support. New Perspectives is here to help families navigate tough moments with understanding and tools that work.

The holidays can be joyful… and they can also be challenging for anyone walking the path of sobriety. If you’re committed to staying sober this season, you’re not alone — and you can navigate celebrations with confidence, clarity, and peace.

Here are a few ways to support your sobriety during holiday gatherings:

✨ Have a plan before you go.
Decide how long you’ll stay, who you’ll stick close to, and what you’ll say if offered a drink.

🥤 Bring your own non-alcoholic drink.
A festive mocktail, sparkling water, or anything you enjoy can help you feel included without temptation.

👥 Lean on your support system.
Text a friend, call your sponsor, or check in with someone who understands your journey.

🧘🏽‍♂️ Take breaks when needed.
If emotions get heavy or environments feel overwhelming, step outside, breathe, and reset.

🚪 Know that you can leave early.
Your sobriety is more important than anyone’s expectations.

❤️ Choose the spaces that feel safe.
It’s okay to skip events that put your recovery at risk.

New Perspectives Sober Living is here to remind you: staying sober during the holidays is possible — and every choice you make to protect your recovery is a choice toward a better, brighter future.

Every person deserves food on their plate and a roof over their head.

Unfortunately, hunger and homelessness are a reality for far too many people. The U.S. is the richest nation in the world, but 37 million Americans are at risk of suffering from hunger and more than 500,000 Americans are homeless on a typical night.

This week is Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, an annual opportunity to shine a spotlight on the problems of hunger and homelessness and organize our communities to take action.

🌿 Helping Youth Manage Stress Starts with Support, Not Silence

Today’s youth are facing more stress than ever — school pressure, social media, family challenges, and life changes that can feel overwhelming.
But learning healthy ways to cope early in life can change the entire mental health journey ahead. 💚

✅ Here are 5 Simple Stress-Relief Tips for Youth:
1️⃣ Take a movement break — stretch, walk, dance, or step outside for fresh air.
2️⃣ Try “box breathing” — inhale 4 sec, hold 4 sec, exhale 4 sec, hold 4 sec.
3️⃣ Name the feeling — saying “I feel anxious” or “I feel frustrated” helps the brain process it.
4️⃣ Unplug for 10 minutes — put the phone down, turn off notifications, regroup.
5️⃣ Talk to a trusted adult or therapist — stress grows in silence, but shrinks when shared.

At New Perspectives Sober Living, our Behavioral Health Services for Youth offer trauma-informed therapy, coping skills development, and family support — because healing doesn’t happen alone.

October is Bullying Awareness Month.

Bullying involves unwanted, aggressive behavior that results in a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior repeats, or has the potential to repeat, over time. Students who are bullied or bully others are at risk for negative impacts on mental and physical health, substance use, violence, and educational experiences.

Under Ohio law, harassment, intimidation, or bullying is defined as any intentional written, verbal, electronic, or physical act that:

A student has exhibited toward another particular student more than once and;
Causes mental or physical harm to the other student; and
Is sufficiently severe, persistent, or pervasive that it creates an intimidating, threatening, or abusive educational environment for the other student including violence within a dating relationship.

These behaviors may also occur by an act of electronic means like a cellular telephone, personal communication device, or other electronic communication device. Bullying can occur anywhere, including in person or in online platforms (like texting and social media).

Both parties, the bully and the victim need support. If you or a loved one is dealing with bullying, contact our Behavior Health Services Department to be connected with our culturally relevant, trauma-informed therapists. You've tried some of the services at the big agencies, check us out and see what a difference a can make in your family!
