I’m sharing a short series of passages from my books with a reflective prompt for Black women who want real healing and empowerment. Today’s excerpt focuses on boundaries and self-worth—read it, reflect, and try this prompt: name one boundary you’ll set this week and tell a trusted friend.

As a licensed social worker and author, I’ve seen how these practices bring concrete relief and renewed confidence. If you’re in Toledo, OH, local resources at 5726 Southwyck Blvd suite 140 can help when you’re ready to take the next step.

I use three simple phrases on stage to validate, mobilize, and empower — and you can use them today. 1) “I see you.” — Shows recognition and builds trust. Try this when someone shares a struggle. 2) “What do you need next?” — Moves people toward action and choice. Use it to invite support or solutions. 3) “We rise together.” — Strengthens collective belonging and momentum. Say it in groups or community chats. As a licensed social worker and speaker, I’ve tested these with women across healing journeys, especially Black women in Toledo. Try one phrase this week and tell me which felt most powerful. https://wix.to/YLeI28n

I read a passage today that reminded me how powerful your voice is — and how worth reclaiming it can be. Watch the clip and sit with these two questions: 1) Where in my life do I silence myself, and what would it feel like to speak? 2) What small step can I take this week to honor my truth? I bring therapy-informed writing and real vulnerability to my work with Black women, blending healing and resilience in every practice. If you’re in Toledo, you might recognize my local office at 5726 Southwyck Blvd — I’m grateful to serve this community. Link: https://wix.to/r7apxEB

I watched one woman in the front row wipe her eyes, stand taller, and tell me afterward she’d finally believed she deserved help. As a licensed social worker and speaker, I’ve seen that belief spark real change — she joined a support circle, started therapy, and her confidence has grown each week. My talks center healing and practical steps for Black women ready to reclaim their power. If you’re in Toledo, come see me at upcoming local events near 5726 Southwyck Blvd suite 140 — let’s take the next step together. Learn more: https://wix.to/eSTaWTz

I’m sharing three practical steps to support trauma recovery for Black women balancing culture and care. 1) Grounding: breathe, name five things you see, feel your feet on the floor. 2) Boundary-setting: practice one small “no” this week—protect your energy. 3) Micro-rituals: build short, meaningful routines that honor your history and calm your nervous system. These practices are clinically informed and rooted in lived experience—I'm a licensed social worker and Black author, and I hold space for this work. If you're in Toledo, stop by our safe space near 5726 Southwyck Blvd suite 140 or visit https://wix.to/tGVQxng to learn more. You deserve care that fits your life. Share one small step you’ll try this week.

I’m inviting you to write your next chapter — one prompt at a time. Here are three guided journal cues inspired by LaShanna Alfred’s work as an author and speaker to turn insight into action. 1) Name one belief that’s held you back. Where did it start, and what’s one small proof that it’s no longer true? 2) Recall a moment you chose yourself. What did you do next, and what new boundary can you set today to protect that choice? 3) Imagine your life one year from now if you prioritize your healing. What’s one practical step you can take this week to move toward that vision? LaShanna Alfred’s perspective reminds us that words can become plans — let your answers become prompts for real change. Share one response below to connect with other women, or visit resources and local circles near Toledo at https://wix.to/YYk6bAX. I’ll read your thoughts and cheer you on.

I’m sharing a short excerpt from my writing and one quick prompt to help you shift your day—no extra time required. “I carry my calm like a small lantern, bright enough for the next step.” Prompt: Breathe, read the line aloud, and name one small step you can take now. Journaling exercise: Spend five minutes writing how that step feels and one sentence you’ll tell yourself before you do it. As an author and clinician, I craft these micro-practices so you can move from thought to action between errands or on your lunch break in Toledo. Try it, then share what changed. https://wix.to/ToRzLMs
