TMWC exists to offer hope and encouragement through the power of peer support to those who live with mental illness.
TMWC staff have a deep understanding of what members are going through and provide emotional support, education, and advocacy.

Congratulations to our winter quarter graduates of TMWC’s Exploring Emotions Peer Education Program! Exploring Emotions is an eight-session course about understanding our emotions—both pleasant and unpleasant—and the needs that underlie them. Participants explore ways to tune into and manage their emotions in ways that work for them. Great work, grads!

Peer FAQ: Where can you find peer support?
In this writer's humble opinion, peer support is happening constantly all around you. It is a way to connect through shared experiences, which we often do in our day-to-day interactions.
To find certified peer supporters at work, you also need not look far. There are peer-run centers (just like the Thomas M Wernert Center) that are non-clinical and fully peer focused. Peer supporters also work in clinical settings, such as crisis centers, on ACT (assertive community treatment) teams alongside social workers and psychiatrists, even in emergency departments and outpatient units at hospitals. Peers can provide support in-person or online as well as in group settings or one-on-one, to meet you where you are at.
If you are in need of help looking for peer connections near you, within Lucas County or outside the area, reach out to the Lucas County Peer Collaborative at: lucascountypeercollaborative@gmail.com

Greetings! Five of our TMWC members want to participate in the Mercy Health Glass City Marathon...and we need YOUR help to make it happen!
The Mercy Health Glass City Marathon will be held on the weekend of April 25-26. We have five Wernert Center members who would like to participate in the marathon to raise awareness about the importance of physical fitness on mental health. We are accepting donations for these five members to have proper professional running shoes so they may run in the marathon. Your donation can be made at https://www.wernertcenter.org/donate Please donate today! Thank you for your generosity!

TMWC made the difficult decision to again close to members and volunteers starting Friday, November 202, 2020 at 4:00 PM. Staff will continue to work, with their focus on connecting with members from a distance via calls, emails, mail, and social media communication. TMWC is uncertain as to when the center will reopen for in person programming. If you would like to receive a wellness call or speak to one of our staff, please call 419-242-3000 and leave a message. We will return your call as soon as possible.
