“Mindful eating is a practice that involves paying close attention to the experience of eating, using all of your senses and being aware of your thoughts and feelings. It can help you improve your relationship with food and eating, and may lead to better digestion and weight loss.”

Here are some tips for mindful eating:

🧠 Eat slowly: Eating slowly can help you recognize when you're full and avoid overeating.

🧠Eliminate distractions: Turn off the TV and put away your phone so you can focus on eating.

🧠Engage all senses: Notice the colors, smells, tastes, and textures of the food, and how you feel when eating.

🧠Honor your hunger: Pay attention to your hunger cues and don't skip meals.

🧠Serve in modest portions: Use a plate no larger than 9 inches across and fill it only once.

🧠Savor small bites: Chew thoroughly to fully experience the food's flavors.

🧠Be conscious about eating: Notice your thoughts and feelings while you eat.

🧠Pay close attention to your hunger: Consider why you feel like eating, and what emotions or needs might be triggering the eating.

As of today, I’m will NOT be accepting any new clients until early-2025.

Couple of Reasons:

1. I will be out of the office from December 23rd-January 3rd and returning back January 6th.
2. I don’t want to start someone new and only give them one session prior to not being in the office.
3. I’m going to be implementing some new policies and procedures beginning in 2025 and I want to make sure I have them ready.
4. THANK YOU. For recommending me, talking about me to your friends, family, and colleagues. The support is overwhelming and appreciated.

A lot of times, you have children, adolescents and some adults reply to sentences with “huh” or “what” and then they are able to answer what was asked of them.

We know that answering “huh” or “what” is disrespectful within the black community, however it’s all apart of slow processing or delayed processing.

Some tips to helping those with “slow processing”:

☑️ replace huh or what with “can you give me a second to think about that?” Or “I just need a second to reply”
☑️ be understanding
☑️ allow 1 or 2 second pause to reply to your question.
☑️ reframe your thinking that “huh” or “what” is disrespectful.
