We hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween! Last week, we held our Annual Speech or Treat event for our Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic clients. It was an "all hands on deck" event! Candy was donated by our National Student Speech-Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) members and by our program faculty, decorations were created by members of the DaZy Aphasia Centre, and candy was handed out by undergraduate and graduate students. Special thanks go out to the clinic student workers who helped see the event went smoothly and took these pictures! There were six candy stations, a photo booth, and Mummy Boowling! Enjoy!

On October 8, the UToledo Chapter of the National Student Speech-Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) welcomed approximately 30 undergraduate students in the Speech-Language Pathology program to a Chips and Dip Meet and Greet with the SLP Program faculty and staff. NSSLHA holds multiple opportunities during the school year (including Faculty Game Night) to give the students a chance to get to know their faculty outside of the classroom setting. In addition to social events, NSSLHA is very active and dedicated to community service, promoting awareness of communication disorders, and connecting SLP students.

We are sad to share that our friend and collaborator, Frank Zychowicz, has passed away. Frank has assisted his wife and DaZy Aphasia Centre co-founder, Jackie, since the Centre's beginning. DaZy has welcomed countless stroke and traumatic brain injury survivors over the years and allowed our students to assist with their communication needs. Frank has always been such a big part of this group and we are so grateful to have known him. His smile, humor, and empathy will be sorely missed.

View Francis Zychowicz, Jr.'s obituary, send flowers, find service dates, and sign the guestbook.
