After more than 35 years of caring for local children and families, Dr. R.W. Mills, pediatrician and co-founder of PediatriCare Associates – An Affiliate of Nationwide Children’s Hospital - Toledo, has announced his retirement from our practice. His last day in the office will be June 25, 2026, and official letters with more information have been mailed to families.

Dr. Mills has been a trusted pediatrician, mentor and friend to thousands of northwest Ohio families, often caring for multiple generations. We are deeply grateful for the compassion, expertise and dedication he has shared with our community.

While he is retiring from PediatriCare Associates, Dr. Mills will continue serving as Chief Medical Officer of Nationwide Children’s Hospital - Toledo and will focus on mentoring the next generation of pediatric providers in our region.

Families with upcoming appointments after June 25 will be contacted to reschedule with one of the other pediatricians in our practice and patient health records will continue to be maintained at PediatriCare Associates. For the safety of our patients, families, and staff, our office will close in the event of a Level 3 Snow Emergency.

If weather conditions require us to close outside of a Level 3 emergency, we will:
• Post updates on our social media pages
• Send direct notifications to patients who are scheduled for that day

Nationwide Children’s mission is to keep children healthy and safe. Vaccines are one of the most effective tools we have to prevent serious illness, hospitalization, and death in children.

The previous U.S. childhood vaccine schedule was based on decades of scientific research and designed to protect children at the ages when they are most vulnerable. Reducing vaccine coverage would leave children unprotected against diseases the U.S. has largely contained through widespread immunization.

We remain committed to helping families make informed decisions about their child’s health. Families and caregivers should talk to their child's pediatrician about any questions or concerns. Vaccines save lives, and our focus will always be on protecting children and promoting their well-being.

Our annual drive-through flu clinic was another huge success. We were able to give over 450 flu shots!! 👏🏼

I want to give big thank you to our amazing staff for their hard work and teamwork, and to our wonderful families for coming out to protect their children this flu season.
