We would like to congratulate Dr. Murtagh on her retirement at the end of this year, her contributions to Franklin Park Pediatrics and the medical community have been invaluable. We are incredibly grateful for her dedication and expertise. While we will truly miss her presence, we are excited for her as she embarks on this new chapter. We wish her all the best in this next stage of her life.
We want to assure our valued patients and their families that Franklin Park Pediatrics remains steadfast in its commitment to providing exceptional care. We are here for you and will continue to be readily available to answer your calls and schedule appointments as always. We are excited to announce that Franklin Park Pediatrics will expand our team by adding 2-3 new providers within the next year. We understand that some of our patients have expressed concerns, hearing rumors that Dr. Haidar and Dr Al-Ayoubi are contemplating retirement. Neither they nor Dr. McBride or Dr. Shamy have plans to retire anytime soon and are very much looking forward to continuing to serve the community.

Announcement from Dr. Murtagh

Dear Patients and Families,

After 36 fulfilling years of practicing pediatrics, I am reaching out to let you know that I have made the difficult decision to retire from my medical practice on December 31st 2025.
This decision is bittersweet because caring for your children over the years has been a true privilege. I am grateful to have been a part of your families and worked with so many wonderful parents. It has been an added bonus to watch former patients become parents.
As I look forward to the next chapter of my life, I wanted to thank you all for allowing me to be your pediatrician. It has been a true honor and I wish you all the best.

Our physicians recommend that all patients 6 months and older get an annual flu vaccine. We now have injectable influenza vaccines available for all insurance carriers. We do not yet have the flu mist (nasal spray for 2 years and up) we will post once it becomes available.

Vaccine appointment is preferred to avoid long wait times but not required. No walk-in’s accepted from 1-2pm daily.

PPD/TB test
This test is done to find out if you have ever come in contact with the bacteria that cause TB. TB is an easily spread disease that most often affects the lungs. The bacteria can remain dormant for many years. The injection is placed in the forearm just under the top layer of skin, causing a small bump to form, this bump usually goes away after a few hours as it is absorbed.
You are most likely to need this test if you
-may have been around someone with positive TB test
-work In healthcare
-school/college requires it
If you are up to date on your well visit, you can walk in Monday, tues, Wednesday or Friday 9am-1230pm or 2pm-430pm. We cannot place the test on a Thursday, it has to be read 48-72 hours after it is placed.
