Mental Health & Recovery Services Board of Lucas County The MHRSB helps Lucas County residents find the right places to turn for affordable, quality mental MHRSB is authorized by Ohio Revised Code 340.

Providing oversight of the Board's activities are up to eighteen (18) community volunteers who are appointed by either the Board of County Commissioners, the Ohio Department of Mental Health, or the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services. These citizen volunteers are consumers, family members, behavioral health specilalists and commun...ity leaders. They are charged with being stewards of public funds and ensuring that Lucas County residents with mental health and/or substance use disorders have access to programs, services and supports that will maximize their ability to recover and function without limitations of any kind in the community.

Emergency Warming Shelters
As the weather reaches varying levels of severe cold, warming shelters located across Lucas County will be available for residents in need of a safe and warm place to stay.
Residents seeking long term or housing assistance should call 211 to be connected to resources. Please visit toledo.oh.gov/shelter for a map of all available warming shelters.

Overnight warming centers will be open Thursday, December 4 and Friday, December 5 from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. at the following locations:

Individuals and couples can find shelter at St. Paul's United Methodist Church located at 1201 Madison St.

Families with children are welcome at Leading Families Home; Beach House, Inc., located at 915 N Erie St.

🚨 PLEASE NOTE: These overnight warming centers do not provide beds and are separate from shelter waitlists. Please call United Way of Greater Toledo 2-1-1 for assistance with transportation or other housing resources.

Thanks to our partners for providing these services Cherry Street Mission, Area Office on Aging of Northwestern Ohio, Inc., Toledo City Council, Toledo Police Department, Toledo Fire & Rescue Department, Toledo Lucas County Homelessness Board, Board of Lucas County Commissioners, Lucas County Emergency Management Agency and Toledo-Lucas County Health Department.

This weekend, we lost one of our unhoused neighbors to the cold in downtown Toledo. He was among our most vulnerable residents.

We know this sparks frustration and anger at systems, at circumstances, at the lack of resources. Those feelings are valid. Let’s turn them into action:

-Advocate for stronger social services and housing solutions.
-Share resources that save lives in extreme weather.
-Support organizations working on the front lines.

No one should have to be outside in these conditions. Let’s care for each other, speak up for change, and keep compassion at the center of our work.
