Tuesday was the start of the 2026 Minnesota Legislative Session!

Over the next 91 days, until adjournment on May 18, legislators will meet at the State Capitol in St. Paul to debate, negotiate, and shape policies that impact communities across Minnesota. While committees will begin meeting tomorrow, today is a day of remembrance.

Both the House and Senate will spend time remembering Speaker Melissa Hortman, her husband Mark, and their golden retriever Gilbert, who were tragically assassinated last June.

This session, APTA-MN will be here every day advocating for physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, students, and the patients who rely on high-quality, accessible care.

Minnesota Legislature Fact of the Day: With 67 State Senators, Minnesota has the largest state senate in the country, besting by 4 New York’s state senate with 63 senators.
