Massage Therapy and Reiki, under the expert guidance of our Licensed Massage Therapist, Bonnie Jackson, provide several valuable benefits for Hospice patients. These include reducing pain, facilitating relaxation, improving sleep, and reducing anxiety, to name a few. The primary goal is that the patient feels safe and comfortable. Medical therapies used to treat disease or relieve pain before entering Hospice often take a toll on Hospice patients. Hands-on therapies, such as Massage and Reiki, are gentle ways to address some of that stress. During Massage Therapy Week (October 23-29, 2025), we thank Bonnie for her dedicated care for our Hospice patients' mind, body, and spirit.

This week we celebrate Healthcare Maintenance & Groundskeeping Week at Tomah Health! Both teams play a vital role in ensuring a safe and efficient environment for all patients, visitors, providers, and staff within the Warrens Clinic, Hospice Touch & Palliative Care, and Hospital. Maintenance Team Members handle many operations of systems in the hospital, including tasks related to carpentry, plumbing, and basic electrician work. They also handle safety checks, make repairs, oversee the operations of the hospital runs smoothly, and overall ensure the lights stay on. Our Groundskeeping Team at Tomah Health ensures that all three locations continue to be well-maintained and aesthetically pleasing all year round! This includes the campus grounds, parking lot maintenance, landscaping, and snow removal. We do not know what we would do without these two important teams!

Staff and visitors to the Tomah Health cafeteria are helping to reduce costs and protect the environment thanks to a reusable to-go container project. Back in July Tomah Health Nutrition Services launched the OZZI reusable to-go container system in the hospital’s café to reduce waste and hold down costs. Three months into the program, hospital officials say the OZZI system is making a difference in the purchase of fewer traditional containers thereby saving about $500 a month in supply costs.

Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month aims to spread awareness regarding the expanded use of ultrasound diagnostics and recognize the sonography profession. While the original use of ultrasound was to detect pregnancy, the two additional types of ultrasounds include diagnostic ultrasound and ultrasound guidance in a procedure. This year’s theme is “Waves for Days” and just like the theme states ultrasound waves can be used to view your organs, functions, and conditions within the entire human body. We thank our Tomah Health Ultrasound Sonographers Alicia, Libby, & Rebecca!
