Last week Maureen caught a giant musky! It's the biggest musky anyone in my family has caught and the biggest l've ever been in the boat for. I have never had one not fit in our net and be curled up in the net bag. It is a giant fish for northen Wisconsin.

We don't have great pics of the fish and we don't have any measurements. The water was extremely warm and we had it out of the water for only 5-10 seconds. Maureen didn't think she could get it out the net for a pic but I told her she had to. Usually we try to get great pictures and make the fish look as big as possible... she sat down to hold this one and had to support the belly of the fish with her elbow and hold it against her body to balance it. We were happy to just successfully hold and release it without harming the fish. I wanted to get a release video and possibly measure it in the water but the base of the tail slipped out of her hand, it was too big to hold with one hand, and the fish immediately swam down to the bottom, which was great. Our son James was in the boat and it was awesome he got to experience it with us! Maureen fishes hard and I’m extremely happy for her!

Incredible weekend of fishing with Sophia Fischer and her brother’s Sam and Jack! We put 4 in the bag and had two big ones come unpinned right at the net. Sam also got a bonus 24” walleye on a bucktail. Great times with some great people and the weather even cooperated!

My dad caught this fish on Saturday and it’s the 4th time it’s been in our boat. I caught it in August of 2020 and in July of 2022 and Maureen caught it last year on opening weekend. This time we caught it about 500 yards from where we caught it the other 3 times.

There’s good days musky fishing and then there’s the day that Kyle Thayse had with me last week. His first time musky fishing and he catches 5 muskies before 11 am. Kyle was one of my college roommates and a good friend of mine. This kind of day on the water couldn’t have happened to a better guy. A day of fishing we’ll never forget!
