PLEASE NOTE OUR UPDATED LAB AND FOLLOW UP POLICY:
The following is our updated policy regarding labs and lab results. There is actually no change for patients who are already organized and plan ahead. It may be an adjustment for some people but will improve your health even better.
We will no longer call patients with details of lab results. Here are the options now::
★★★★★ Come in for labs before visit so we can discuss results in person during the visit
★★★★ Return to clinic in one week after visit to review lab results and plan in person
★★★ Schedule virtual visit one week after visit and labs to review lab results via FaceTime
★★ We will contact you to notify you if there are abnormal lab results which should be discussed, and you may schedule clinic or virtual visit at that time. Remember no news does not necessarily mean good news so you are always encouraged to follow up to confirm results and plan. Medications will be refilled and adjusted, but
If you have questions or concerns please schedule visit.
★ No labs, no discussion. You get one body, one time. If you choose to not follow up regularly, and not monitor your medications and conditions, you are more likely to suffer.
Be a five star patient! Plan your next labs and visit when you’re checking out from your last visit. We can most accurately confirm safety and dosage adjustments during your visit, when we already have results done prior to visit. You are prescribed enough medications and refills to last until your next planned visit, so when you are running out of medications, it is time to follow up. If you haven’t planned ahead, you may be given 7 day supply of critical (not controlled) medications. If you fail to plan for refills of medications such as blood pressure and diabetes medications, it is possible to have stroke, heart attack, seizures, or other serious complications. Please request refills of all routine medications during your visit.
Patients taking diabetes medications, and cholesterol medications generally have three month labs and follow-up in order to maintain optimum management. In order to provide the best medical care, your provider needs up to date information in order to make the most informed decisions. Other providers may follow up more or less often. We determine follow up based on the latest clinical guidelines, as well as state regulations. Working together, we can often decrease and stop medications when conditions improve.
