Today, we celebrate National Women Physicians Day by honoring the strength, resilience, and dedication of women doctors who break barriers in medicine ✨
Residency was not easy. We would often go to sleep at 12am and wake up at 4:30am/5am the next morning. We had 24 hour shifts in Cardiac Critical Care Units. In Telemetry units, we would manage strokes, heart attacks, seizures, you name it…
We learned from the very best, world-famous attendings such as Dr. Stephen Kamholz. We were lucky enough to do our training in a very busy, diverse, hands-on hospital. I am so grateful we had that level of training. We had the opportunity to manage what others only read about in textbooks 📝
For women doctors of medicine, education never ends. Fun Fact: women spend 10-14 years to train to become physicians 🩺 🤓
Women physicians face daily challenges and adversity in the workforce. Yet, we continue to provide exceptional patient care while balancing continuous education and for some of us, motherhood. Here’s to all the women who inspire, empower, and pave the way for future generations of healers. 💪💙
