This is a bittersweet season. I graduate from nursing school in two weeks. I look forward to all that is in store in my new career, but with sadness I pause my work as a labor doula. I am grateful for all who have played a role in my life as a doula - colleagues, clients, my family. I’ll keep this page open because there is no telling where life will lead, but for now things here will be quiet. As always, I wish you the best in your journey ahead! 💗

Circumcision is a hot topic, and I am committed to providing non-judgmental support to the families I serve. I do think it is important to be well educated about all procedures, and circumcision is no different. Have you encountered tongue/lip ties with your baby? What wisdom about this would you share with other expecting parents?

Tongue and Lip ties can cause a host of problems, including these:

- Babies may not be able to stimulate milk production through vigorous nursing, leading to low milk supply
- Painful nursing/early weaning because the child gets too frustrated
- Improper tongue mobility may prevent babies from clearing milk from their mouth, causing tooth decay (especially in the front teeth)
- Colic
- Reflux
- Sleep deprivation for mama and baby (due to the need for frequent feedings)
- Speech difficulties
- Gap between teeth/jaw issues
