While only about 5% of physicians get voted as Super Doctors, less than 2.5% of physicians get voted as Rising Stars. Here at AOSM, a defining trait of our company's character for the past 39 years is to change the face of healthcare. In these years, we have challenged barriers and faced inconsistencies in healthcare and patientcare head-on within the orthopedic realm. This being said, every Thursday for the next month, we will highlight a different aspect of orthopedic advocacy in effort to promote healthy and credible change. Our first advocacy project involves building support for Medicare payment reform.

Decreases to reimbursement affect more than physician pay. Long-term, this gradual decline threatens the quality of highly specialized care and the availability of those who can provide it. CMS is calling for a nearly 4.5% cut to reimbursement next year. This is in addition to a looming 4% cut to physician reimbursement due to a congressionally mandated budget mechanism known as PAYGO. Without congressional action, orthopaedic surgeons and most physicians will experience an 8.5% cut to Medicare reimbursement starting Jan. 1, 2023. Urge CMS and your representatives to act, avert Medicare cuts and protect patient access to specialty medicine.

Every year, we host an Employee Appreciation Picnic to celebrate and reward our employees and to acknowledge the tenure anniversaries of our staff.

Due to COVID-19, we’ve held off on this celebration in 2020 and 2021, but this year we were excited to regather and enjoy the sunny day together last Friday.

Throughout the years, there have been many changes throughout AOSM, including the addition of many new physicians, new locations and the implimention of new, advanced technologies and procedural advancements to better serve out patients. But one thing has not changed, and that is our commitment to our patients, which starts with a friendly voice reserving your appointment. It’s those friendly voices and positive, proactive team players that keep our company privately owned and centered around the patient: always.

In that spirit, we wanted to share a few photos of our Employee Appreciation Picnic, which had more attendees than ever. With great growth, comes great responsibility to acknowledge those who work so hard to make our company such a warm place to come to every day.
