Fraud can impact anyone, from online shoppers to homeowners to everyday consumers. During International Fraud Awareness Week, the Ocean County Department of Consumer Affairs reminds residents that help is always available through its three dedicated divisions:
• Weights & Measures ⚖️ – Protects consumers by inspecting and testing scales, gas pumps, fuel oil meters, supermarket scanners, and other commercial devices to ensure accuracy. Their work ensures you’re getting the correct quantity and value every time you make a purchase.
• Consumer Protection 🛡️ – Investigates scams, deceptive business practices, and contractor issues, and offers guidance to residents who believe they’ve been targeted. Whether it’s a phone scam, online fraud, or a suspicious offer, this division works to keep your money and information safe.
• Energy Council 💡 – Assists residents with questions or concerns about utility services, billing disputes, energy conservation, and consumer rights related to energy use. They help you understand your options and resolve issues with confidence.
📞 The Ocean County Department of Consumer Affairs is here to protect you, support you, and help you stay informed year-round. If you have a concern or suspect fraud, call 732-929-2105.
