Help us build the future of cancer care in New Jersey. At RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers Cancer Institute, we are in the midst of transforming cancer care and research. As the state’s only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, we are bringing elite, state-of-the-art freestanding cancer facilities to our neighborhoods.

But it’s about more than brick and mortar—it’s about the lives changed inside these walls.

With the recent opening of the Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center, the Melchiorre Cancer Center opening its doors this year, and the Specialty and Cancer Care Center on the Vogel Medical Campus following in 2027, your support fuels the research, prevention, and treatments that weren't possible yesterday.

Your donation directly impacts the health of our community for generations.

Knowing the maternal warning signs, what to look for both pre and post-partum, are key to a successful pregnancy and keeping mom safe.

On Maternal Health Awareness Day, the Obstetrics’ Chairs at our nine birthing hospitals share life-saving messages about urgent maternal warning signs.

“Protecting mothers’ lives is a top priority at our health system. Every mother deserves safe, respectful, high-quality care—before, during, and after pregnancy,” says Suzanne Spernal, Senior Vice President, Women’s Services at RWJBarnabas Health.

Congratulations to our latest Physician of the Month, Dr. Amit Setya, Emergency Medicine Specialist!

Dr. Setya was nominated by several of his Emergency Department teammates, who shared their thoughts about their colleague:
-“He is approachable, professional and is always helpful with patients even when they aren’t his specific patients!”
-“He works great with the staff; he is prompt when a request is made of him. He is an excellent communicator.”
-“Dr. Setya is such a fantastic provider and leader for the RDU. He is hands-on with patient care, interventions, discharges, and communications. He is truly the illustration of a provider: he provides empathy, time, helping hands, and lending ears. We are beyond lucky to have Dr. Setya in the ED/RDU family!”
-“Dr. Setya is the epitome of professionalism, intellect and compassion. He is driven and motivated by high positive outcomes and patient satisfaction/well-being. He is very comprehensive in his approach to care. Above all, he is a team player and employs his trust and confidence in each member of the team which allows everyone to feel involved in the patients’ positive outcomes. He is truly an excellent physician and one to emulate.”
-“Dr. Setya demonstrates all of the qualities of a physician. He has an amazing rapport with the staff and his patients. When Dr Setya rounds on his patients, he brings his computer into the room so he can go through their records and discuss their care. He is kind, compassionate and always takes the time to collaborate with nursing, consultants and his patients to expedite their disposition.”

Dr. Setya was surprised with the announcement today in the Emergency Department.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Setya!

MLK Day of Service is an annual opportunity to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and participating in a community service project, helping to fully realize Dr. King’s vision for a “Beloved Community,” a society where people are respected, cared for and treated as equals. RWJBarnabas Health facilities annually hold activities and events to give back or make our local communities better.

Last week, CMC employees and several local Girl Scouts participated in CMC’s MLK Day of Service event on January 16, assembling 100 chemo care kits. The kits were donated to Outpatient Infusion and Inpatient Oncology for patients undergoing treatment, hoping to bring them hope, comfort and compassion.

Additionally, staff created a “Community Wall,” to take part in a collective reflection and celebration of our shared values. Employees were encouraged to share short words or phrases that reflected how they live RWJBarnabas Health’s values (Accountability, Compassion, Curiosity, Empathy, Excellence, Kindness, Respect and Teamwork) and contribute to meeting the needs of our communities. The reflections were collected on index cards and assembled into a symbolic “brick wall” representing the collective commitment, compassion and care that strengthen our organization. The Community Wall is as a visual reminder that together, we are building upon our Total Wellbeing culture where people feel support, valued and able to thrive – at work and beyond.

This International Mentoring Day, we’re shining the spotlight on the importance of stories of shared learning and support! RWJBarnabas Health launched a system-wide Mentorship Program in October 2025, recognizing that mentorship is key for career wellbeing. To date, the program has 400+ combined mentee and mentor participants. Here, we kick off a special series, “Mentorship in Motion,” where some of our program participants talk about their journeys, discoveries and accomplishments - individually and together - and what this connection means. First up, meet Jennifer M. and CJ C.!

We’re committed to helping every member of our team feel supported to grow and achieve professional goals.
