Truth

This is not a post about Pamela Anderson.

But this picture is such a great representation of what we care and do not care about. This picture ( and others like it) sparked hatred, cruelty, judgement and blatant misogyny.

Women cried out how she needed more makeup and said the bangs are ugly. Men said worse.

But Pamela Anderson no longer cares that the world wants her in a red bathing suit.

Sadly there still exists a large population of this earth that still does care. A population that believes women are here to look good for men. That our power comes from our sexual attractiveness and trying to make ourselves fit the mold of what that is.

And maybe there is a biological component. S*x is survival of the species. All creatures flaunt their feathers to attract a mate. If it makes you feel good to flaunt then flaunt. Go ahead and have fun with your sexuality and your life!

But when the baby making days are over we find our true power is about something else entirely. It always was, but the pressure was so strong and so prevalent in our society that it was hard to see past those beauty standards.

Even when it was no longer for men. We still looked at ourselves in the mirror and wanted to be something better, slimmer, sleeker, firmer. We looked, and for decades we told our reflections that they weren’t enough. They weren’t beautiful. And that breaks my heart.

Look again please. Can you see the strength, the courage, the ability and the love? That is what makes you beautiful. The scars, the sagging, the gray, the grief, the laugh lines, the fat, the realness.

It is you, amazing warrior!

Look at all you’ve done in your life.
That is worth love. That is worth admiration. That is true beauty.

We are women. We are the mothers, the grandmothers, the healers, the nurturers, the life-givers. We don’t need to look like some unattainable image we’ve carried in our heads and shackled ourselves to, dragging the chains through our lives everywhere we go. In dressing rooms. At the beach. At the salons getting dyed, waxed and injected. In bed with a man where we self-consciously keep our cellulite at a certain angle. In the relationships where we were discarded and felt it was a reflection of our own worth, rather than his.

It’s time we Let. It. Go.

Let’s allow ourselves to be free.

Let today be the day you stop telling that girl( because thats when it started) in the mirror she is falling short. Tell her you see her. Clearly for the first time. Tell her you’re amazed. And from now on you’ll see she is much more than enough.

Tell her that serenity, kindness, self- knowledge and confidence are the most beautiful things. And that you no longer care what the testosterone driven world thinks.

“Forgiveness is a long night walk by the ocean at ebb tide, with the surf only murmuring”. D Patrick Miller 2009

I will keep pontificating that forgiveness is a power tool and a gift we give ourselves. It can and will bring order to chaos in your mind because forgiveness is the very acknowledgement that you have ushered in the necessity to see all that is in your lap; the pleasures and pains, triumphs and tragedies, hate and love , peace and turmoil under the lens of the Greatest Healer within yourself.

The decision to follow this quest possesses the door to a deep abiding happiness and joy that holds the power to withstand the test of time and sustain you through all transient sorrow and grief that comes your way. I encourage you to open and walk through this door with the confidence of knowing that you too are a child of the God of Many Names deserving to step into your greatness.

“Alchemy represents the projection of a drama both cosmic and spiritual in laboratory terms. The ‘opus magnum’ [the great work] had two aims: the rescue of the human soul and the salvation of the cosmos.

What the alchemists called “matter” was in reality the unconscious self. The soul of the world, the ‘anima mundi,’ which was identified with the ‘spiritus mercurius’ [the Mercurial spirit], was imprisoned in matter. It is for this reason that the alchemists believed in the truth of “matter,” because “matter” was actually their own psychic life. But it was a question of freeing this “matter,” of saving it — in a word, of finding the philosopher’s stone, the ‘corpus glorificationis’ [the glorified body].”

Jesus was an alchemist, and I’m going to prove it. You’ve heard alchemy is about unlimited wealth and eternal life but what if I told you Jesus taught the same thing? The hidden Gospel of Thomas says, “These are the secret sayings that the living Jesus spoke… Whoever finds the correct interpretation of these sayings will never die.” That’s right—never die.

Jesus spoke in a code, just like alchemists. Turning metal into gold wasn’t literal; it was a metaphor for spiritual transformation. When Jesus said, "The Kingdom of God is within," he was talking about this inner gold. He even told his followers that their souls were great wealth and that we’re all divine. He said, “When you understand yourselves… you will realize you are Sons of the living Father. [If not,] you exist in poverty.”

One of alchemy’s famous sayings is, “As above, so below. As within, so without.” and Jesus said, “When you make the inside like the outside and the above like the below… then you will enter the kingdom.”

Jesus was revealing the ultimate secret of alchemy: That true riches and eternal life is realizing that the divine spark is already within you.
