Authentic Essence A more integrated way of living

04/22/2026

Body day at Embodying Essence.
We worked with the Annamaya Kosha—the physical layer where everything gets stored.
Your body remembers. Every time something was too much. Every time it wasn’t safe. Every moment you needed to protect yourself.
And those memories don’t just disappear. They live in your tissue. In your fascia. In the way you hold yourself when someone gets too close or asks too much.
They were protective once. They helped you survive. But now they’re limiting you.
They’re keeping you from the intimacy you want. From the aliveness you’re craving. From being fully here for your own life.
Today we gave those parts what they actually need: space, compassion, and permission to finally let go.
Not by forcing softness. Not by bypassing the fear. But by meeting it with enough care that it could finally melt.
That’s when the body stops being a fortress you defend and becomes a temple you inhabit.
That’s when vulnerability stops feeling like danger and starts feeling like capacity.
That’s when you can finally receive the love and connection you’ve been reaching for.

What would it feel like to stop dreaming your way through life and actually wake up into it?

That's what Ta**ra is pointing at — and it's what we'll explore together at Fundamentals of Ta**ra.

Some of our patterns and habits that we’ve built to make ourselves who we are can also limit us.

If we hold ourselves together too much, many think we are never in need.

If we are always the wild, fun, big energy in the room, many may think that we can contain ourselves on our own.

If we are always on the go, getting s**t done, how often is there time to slow down and relax.

If we are always sweet, compassion and caring, how often to people feel that there’s a need for sovereignty and boundaries.

Come find out how all of these energies can work together. Allowing the natural polarity within yourself to create more aliveness

The hardest thing to admit is that you might be wrong about what you think is happening.
Not wrong about what you're feeling. Your emotions are real. The sensation in your body is real.
But wrong about what caused it.

You feel unsafe. You feel dismissed. You feel unseen. And your mind immediately builds a story to explain why: they don't respect you. They're pulling away. This always happens.

And now you're not responding to the person in front of you. You're responding to the story you just created about them.

This is how we stay stuck in the same relational patterns for decades. We keep dating the same person in different bodies because we're not actually seeing who's in front of us. We're seeing our projection.
The tricky part is that awakening doesn't mean your emotions suddenly become perfectly accurate. It doesn't mean your stories stop running.
It means you can hold the tension of: this feels true in my body AND it might not be true about what's happening out here.

That's the uncomfortable part. That's the edge where most people turn back.
Because it's easier to believe your emotions are always right about reality than to sit in the possibility that you might be reacting to something from 20 years ago instead of this moment.

At Embodying Essence, we work with this exact layer. The place where your stories and emotions create your entire reality. Where you learn to distinguish between what's actually happening and what you're projecting onto it.

So you can finally see clearly.

Your body will shake. Your mind will spiral. And you still have to jump.

Trusting the void doesn't mean you're not scared. It means you let yourself feel the fear completely and jump anyway.
Because there are layers to this.

Your body is going to contract. It's going to brace against the unknown like it's bracing against danger. That's 300,000 years of evolution trying to keep you alive.

Your mind is going to create every possible worst-case scenario. It's going to build entire storylines about what could go wrong. That's the ego doing exactly what it was designed to do.
But underneath all of that—underneath the shaking and the stories—there's something quiet.

It doesn't argue. It doesn't explain. It doesn't need proof.
It just knows.

And the practice isn't to bypass the fear or pretend you're not terrified. The practice is to feel the fear fully, let it move through your body, and still listen to the quiet part.

To let yourself shake and jump at the same time.
To burn through the uncertainty by staying with it instead of running from it.
To trust that your anchor is strong enough to hold you even when you can't see the ground.

This is the difference between spiritual bypassing and embodied trust. One tries to skip over the fear. The other sits in the fire until the body remembers: I am safe even when I don't know what happens next.

At Embodying Essence, we don't teach you to avoid the shaking. We teach you to stay present with it. To feel it completely. And to listen to what's underneath.

Why do you keep repeating the same pattern even when you know it's not working?
Because your ego would rather suffer than be wrong.

The ego is committed to preserving the known world. Even if that world is painful. Even if you can see clearly that it's keeping you stuck.

Because at least it's familiar. At least you know what to expect.
The alternative is the void. The unknown. The empty space where nothing has been defined yet.
And that terrifies the part of you that needs certainty.

But here's what most people miss: the void isn't empty. It's bursting with possibility.
Every act of true creativity requires you to sit in that space. To let go of what you know. To stop building the same house over and over just because you know how.

This is why artists are depressed. This is why innovation is uncomfortable. This is why real change feels like death to the ego.

You have to be willing to enter the space where you don't know yet. Where the outcome isn't guaranteed. Where you might be wrong.

At Embodying Essence, we practice building a relationship with the void. Not as something to fear or avoid, but as the place where everything new gets to emerge.

Paradise never left. You did.

In the Garden of Eden story, everything was perfect until they ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Not the tree of knowledge. The tree of good and evil.

The moment we started labeling things as good or bad, safe or dangerous, friend or enemy, we split the world in two. Heaven and hell. Us and them. What I want and what I fear.

And nothing in the world actually changed. We just started seeing it through a filter.
This is what the ego does. It creates the I that needs to survive. The I that needs to protect itself. The I that looks at the world and decides what's acceptable and what's not.

And suddenly, paradise becomes a threat.
The ta***ic path isn't about transcending the body or the world or the ego to get to some blissful state and stay there forever.

It's about coming all the way back to where you started. Right here. In this body. In this world.

But without the filter. Without the constant labeling of good and bad. Without the fear that convinced you that you need to be anywhere other than here.

You land back in Eden. And it's still the same world. But you're no longer at war with it.

Most of us spend our lives trying to stay safe.

We armor up. We keep people at arm’s length. We numb out the really good things because if we let ourselves feel them, we might also have to feel the hard things.

We tell ourselves it’s protection. But what we’re actually doing is locking life out.

The softness of your partner’s touch. The taste of something sweet and salty on your tongue. The moment when someone really sees you and your body wants to let that in but your nervous system says no.
This is what happens when we mistake safety for aliveness.

At Embodying Essence, we work with the part of you that’s been holding the armor in place. Not to force you to be vulnerable. Not to perform softness or openness.
But to dissolve the identification with fear that convinced you the world is more dangerous than it actually is.

So you can stop looking at life through the bars of a prison and start living in it.

Actually photo of what secure attachment looks like.

This is us last week on the final train home from Bali, after leading the most incredibly retreat, with the most outrageous hiccups.

Of all our trips there, all of which have been wildly initiatory, transformational, chaotic, and beautiful, this last trip was the most of all those things.

But what really struck us was that it was the easiest.
By far the most challenge was arising. Met with ease.

To me, this is the deepest benefit of the work we do.

As unexpected thing after thing popped up, we met it with spacious nervous systems, open minded curiosity, using the tools and practices we teach, to stay in contact with the real present moment as it unfolds, and most of all, were in open hearted connection together.

Secure attachment is often misrepresented in two key ways. Firstly, it’s treated as this way of “securing” things, as if we can effectively nail everything down so nothing ever moves again. Then we can feel safe and and available for deep vulnerability, because we’ve constructed an illusion of control (which of course sets us up for an even bigger devastation down the road, when things inevitably move).

Uncertainty doesn't reveal what's wrong with you.

It reveals how you've been protecting yourself.
When something isn't clear yet, watch what happens. Does your body brace? Does your mind scramble for answers? Do you reach for control, collapse into fear, or push through without pause?
The unknown itself isn't the threat. Your relationship to it is.

At Embodying Essence, we work with the layer of the self that meets uncertainty. Not to eliminate fear, but to recognize when protection is running your life and when trust is actually available.
This is how possibility opens. This is how you stop limiting yourself before you even begin.
