To: My dear friends, family, consumers
I would like to take the opportunity to "Thank each of you".
Throughout the past 8 years as Executive Director of Sunshine Connection, I asked the Lord to show me how to enter the doors of Sunshine Connection and show the consumers how I overcame the stigma of living as a person with mental health challenges, I also prayed that I would be able to leave a little bit better than when I entered.
I did enter with grace and I am leaving better.
I had the pleasure of meeting a lot of interesting people, and gained insight into the lives of peers who were far more challenged than myself. Knowledge without judgment is a powerful tool.
So, today I am Thankful for the Sunshine Connection Board and the Kansas Consumer Advisory Council for your support and service.
Especially Thankful, to the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability for the support, both financially and personally for providing the unique experience of working in a Consumer Run Organization.
May you all continue in your efforts to strengthen the Mental Health community.
Last, but not least, the following staff and I got to be extremely close and I will miss them, Cara Talley, be strong, remember what I said to you about setting boundaries. Roger Scroggins ,
You got this, my prayers are with you and your family as I understand and go get your money, Christina Moore , follow your dreams, you will do well and last but not least, Janice Jones , we so much alike as Aquarian folks it's scary but I know how to find you.
Anita Daniels, Clifton Davis and Angelina Irvin, thank you all for the support and service to all of us ....
Again, Thank you to all of you in my community who helped us whether it was a donation or the use of your facility, or simply a kind word.
God bless each of you and I won't lose touch.
