Many people start the year motivated, only to feel discouraged when a one-size-fits-all plan stops working. That’s not a lack of willpower. It’s biology.

At Summit Health, functional medicine focuses on you. We look at your hormones, metabolism, gut health, stress levels, and lifestyle to create a plan that works with your body, not against it.

When your plan matches your biology, results are more sustainable, more realistic, and easier to maintain long term.

The Science of Sleep: Why Quality Rest Matters 💤

Most adults need 7 to 9 hours of sleep each night, yet about 1 in 3 Americans regularly get less than 7 hours. Chronic poor sleep impacts almost every system in the body.

Immune Health – During deep sleep, the body produces infection-fighting cells and antibodies. Poor sleep can increase risk of illness.

Brain Function – Sleep supports memory, focus, and decision-making. Even one night of poor sleep can impair thinking.

Hormonal Balance and Metabolism – Sleep regulates hormones like cortisol, insulin, ghrelin, and leptin. Lack of sleep can affect weight, blood sugar, and stress.

Tissue Repair and Recovery – Growth hormone released during sleep aids muscle repair, tissue regeneration, and detoxification.

Tips for Better Sleep:
Try the 10-3-1-1 Rule!

Still not getting good sleep? Let Summit Health help you get to the root of the problem and build a plan for restorative, long-term rest.

Big health goals can feel overwhelming but they do not have to be. Functional medicine focuses on you, your body, your habits, and your unique needs rather than quick-fix resolutions that often fizzle out.

Small steps are still steps. Improving your nutrition, getting consistent sleep, managing stress, or balancing your hormones adds up to lasting results. Functional medicine takes a personalized approach, identifying root causes and creating a plan that fits your life so you can make progress without feeling burned out or discouraged.

Skip the resolutions this year. Focus on sustainable and realistic health goals and let functional medicine guide you on the path to long-term wellness. Every step forward matters no matter how small.

💉 Units vs. mL - let’s clear up the confusion

We get this question a lot when it comes to peptide injections. While some syringes are marked in milliliters (mL) and others in units, the amount of medication is often the same, just measured differently.

👉 0.1 mL = 10 units
👉 0.2 mL = 20 units
👉 0.3 mL = 30 units

We commonly use insulin syringes for peptides, which is why dosing may be listed in units instead of mL. The key is understanding the conversion so you feel confident and safe when dosing.

If you’re ever unsure, please reach out. We’re always happy to clarify and support you.

Why “Normal” Labs Don’t Always Mean Optimal 🧪

Just because your lab results fall within the standard range doesn’t always mean your body is functioning at its best. At Summit Health, our Lab Review Service looks beyond “normal” or “abnormal.”

We review labs done outside of Summit Health through a functional medicine lens, identifying subtle imbalances that traditional testing may miss. This approach helps uncover opportunities to optimize your health and prevent issues before they start.

✅ Understand your results more deeply
✅ Catch imbalances early
✅ Create a personalized plan for your best health

Your health deserves more than a simple normal/abnormal check—let’s dig deeper together.
