The RISE Act would make college more accessible for students with disabilities by requiring colleges to accept documentation like IEPs or 504 Plans instead of forcing students to pay for expensive new evaluations.

Right now, many students who had supports in K–12 lose access when they go to college simply because of paperwork or cost. The RISE Act would change that — ensuring transparency around accommodations, making it easier for eligible students to get the support they deserve, and helping them focus on learning instead of endless bureaucracy.

What is Competitive, Integrated Employment (CIE)? 🤔

KUCD - Kansas University Center on Disabilities states that, through the Kansas Employment First project, it is work that is performed on a full-time or part-time basis for which an employee with a disability working in the community alongside non-disabled peers and is paid at or above minimum wage. Wages are similar to the rate paid by the employer to employees without disabilities performing similar tasks with similar training.

Use the link below to tell Congress to reverse devastating layoffs at the U.S. Department of Education and protect the rights of people with disabilities: https://secure.everyaction.com/tb2b4SUPA0aEKZ8A1BfwQg2

Federal protections for students and adults with disabilities are in crisis.

Recent layoffs at the Department of Education have gutted the offices responsible for enforcing IDEA, Section 504, and WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act); laws that ensure access to education, civil rights, and vocational rehabilitation.

Without adequate staff, the Department cannot meet its legal or moral obligations to millions of students and workers with disabilities. Congress must act now to restore staffing, leadership, and oversight before decades of progress are lost.

Add your name today to demand that Congress reverse these devastating layoffs and protect the rights of people with disabilities:
