This is a much needed bill that just passed the US House. People with disabilities are unfortunately far more likely to become victims of crime. Please consider contacting the Kansas members of the Senate today!

Major Step Forward for Survivors of Domestic & Sexual Violence!

We’re encouraged that the U.S. House of Representatives recently passed the Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act (H.R. 909), a bill that will strengthen and stabilize critical support for victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, dating violence, stalking, and other serious crimes. This legislation helps ensure that survivors across Kansas and the nation can access the life-saving resources, shelter, and advocacy support they need both in moments of crisis and as they rebuild their lives.

We are especially grateful to original co-sponsor Congressman Derek Schmidt and to Representative Sharice Davids for their leadership and support in moving this important bill forward.

Now we need your voice to make sure the U.S. Senate acts next!

Please contact our Kansas U.S. Senators and ask them to support H.R. 909 and help move it to a vote in the Senate:

Senator Jerry Moran — Washington, D.C. Office: (202) 224-6521 | Manhattan, KS: (785) 539-8973

Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. — Washington, D.C. Office: (202) 224-4774 | Topeka, KS: (785) 414-7501

Every call helps show that Kansans stand united for survivor safety and access to essential services. Ask them to support the Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act and ensure survivors have the resources they deserve.

The RISE Act would make college more accessible for students with disabilities by requiring colleges to accept documentation like IEPs or 504 Plans instead of forcing students to pay for expensive new evaluations.

Right now, many students who had supports in K–12 lose access when they go to college simply because of paperwork or cost. The RISE Act would change that — ensuring transparency around accommodations, making it easier for eligible students to get the support they deserve, and helping them focus on learning instead of endless bureaucracy.
