Attention turns to the Senate. The Senate is expected to meet on the floor tomorrow to debate its version of the state budget, including the proposed 10% IDD waiver rate increase and the $750,000 CDDO fund. This investment is critical to stabilizing provider capacity, strengthening the DSP workforce, and protecting access to services across Kansas.

Both chambers will ultimately have to reconcile differences before a final budget is sent to the Governor. What happens next depends on sustained advocacy.

We need messages going out now. Contact your Senators today and urge them to protect the 10% IDD waiver rate increase and maintain these critical investments.

This was a big week for IDD advocacy at the Capitol. The Kansas House passed its version of the state budget, and the 3% IDD waiver rate increase and $750,000 investment for CDDOs remain intact.

Thank you to everyone who sent messages, your incredible advocacy made a difference. In addition, SB 363 advanced out of committee with an InterHab-secured amendment that protects individuals on the IDD and HCBS waivers from more frequent eligibility reviews and directs the state to seek CMS approval for continuous eligibility under the IDD waiver.

Attention now turns to the Senate, which is expected to debate its version of the budget soon, including a proposed 10% IDD waiver rate increase.

As the process moves forward, the Senate meets on the floor, both chambers will need to reconcile differences in their budget proposals before a final version is sent to the Governor, making continued advocacy essential to protect these investments.

Watch for an Advocacy Alert, your outreach will be critical in the next phase.

David came to Goodwill through our Day Services program with limited work experience and big dreams for his future. With hands-on support and encouragement, he built confidence and essential job skills.

This growth led to him being hired on the spot for a guest services role at INTRUST Bank Arena, where he now creates a welcoming experience for guests.
