Across Kansas - from our rural communities to our cities, your dedication to supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live, work, and thrive close to home has been evident throughout the year.

Thank you for showing up for the people you support with heart, creativity, and genuine care, often while navigating complex and demanding challenges.

From all of us at InterHab, no matter how or where you celebrate, we wish you a peaceful and joyful holiday season and a restorative start to the new year.

We are honored to stand alongside you in this work and deeply grateful for everything you do to strengthen services and supports across Kansas.

With sincere appreciation and warm holiday wishes,

InterHab members are getting into the holiday spirit at today’s Issues Forum in Ottawa, KS.🎄⛄️ Before diving into the important work ahead, we took a little time to have some fun and build gingerbread houses together. There’s nothing like creativity, laughter, and a bit of friendly competition to kick off a productive day! Grateful for this amazing community and the joy they bring to every gathering.

Lori shared this lovely, handmade quilt of Advocacy Day t-shirts with us in October, and it finally has a spot in our office.

Thank you, Lori!

Important update for the DSP workforce!

A bipartisan group in Congress has reintroduced the Recognizing the Role of Direct Support Professionals Act (H.R. 6137 / S. 3211). This bill would create an official Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) for Direct Support Professionals.

Why this matters:
Community providers continue to face significant workforce shortages. Without an SOC, the federal government cannot accurately track DSP wages or workforce needs. Establishing this classification would support better rate development, improve recruitment and retention, and strengthen services for people with I/DD.

How you can help:
Please contact your members of Congress and ask them to cosponsor this important bill.
