✨ New view unlocked! ✨

During a recent wheelchair adjustment appointment, Adolfo was also evaluated for a donated Rifton mobile stander. Standers offer a high level of adjustability based on each user’s weight-bearing abilities and provide endless benefits for wheelchair users, including:

✅ Improved bone density
✅ Increased circulation
✅ Better digestion and posture
✅ Stronger muscle tone

Coupled with a communication device he’s learning to use, this stander opens up a whole new way for Adolfo to interact with the world. We’re thrilled to see how this donation will make a difference in his daily life.

This week, Congress passed a law to remove age limits on Medicaid Buy-In programs. This is a big win for people with disabilities who can now keep their jobs after age 65 without losing Medicaid coverage.

Thanks to the sustained advocacy of ANCOR advocates & to Congressman Juan Ciscomani for his leadership, access to this essential coverage is secure!

It’s always a great day to advocate at the Capitol!

Today, Courtney Herron, InterHabs Advocacy and Engagement Coordinator, had the chance to meet up with two dedicated parent advocates who founded Onward Kansans, along with leaders from provider members, Lakemary to connect and discuss ongoing advocacy efforts.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to meet with legislators and raise your voices on behalf of Kansans with Intellectual and developmental disabilities.

InterHab members gathered at our Topeka offices for a governmental affairs prep session ahead of tonight’s legislative reception. It’s always inspiring to see advocates come together, share insights, and get aligned as we prepare to engage with lawmakers on the issues that matter most to Kansans with disabilities. Looking forward to an impactful evening!

Later this week, we will provide testimony in both the House Social Services Budget Committee and the Senate Subcommittee on Human Services, Ways and Means. Dozens of IDD providers, parents, and advocates will join us and share that a rate increase for the IDD waiver is essential - providers cannot continue to take new referrals, sustain current services, and successfully implement state modernization plans without one.
