Big news for occupational therapy in Kansas!!!

The OT Compact is opening doors for greater mobility and access to care across state lines. For practitioners in Kansas, this means expanded opportunities to practice in participating states—while helping more clients receive the services they need, when and where they need them most.

This is a major win for our profession, strengthening collaboration, supporting workforce flexibility, and improving access to occupational therapy services nationwide.

Thank you again to all of those who were a part of Kansas’ Occupational Therapy Day on the Hill!

The event brought together more than 100 OT students and professionals from across Kansas to advocate for our profession and the patients we serve.

The morning included speakers and updates from Representative Angela Stiens, Senator Adam Thomas, KOTA lobbyist Travis Grauerholz, KOTA President Ashleigh Heldstab, Government Affairs Chair Katrina Shaw, and Susan Gile from the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts.

After the program, attendees visited the Capitol to meet with legislators and deliver information and gifts to legislative offices, helping share the important role occupational therapy plays in the lives of Kansans.

Thank you to all the students, practitioners, and speakers who participated. Your advocacy helps strengthen our profession and its impact across Kansas.

What an incredible day at the Kansas Capitol!

KOTA was proud to host our annual Occupational Therapy Day on the Hill, bringing together more than 100 occupational therapy students and professionals from across Kansas to advocate for the profession and the patients we serve.

The morning kicked off with a full agenda of speakers and discussions, including remarks from Representative Angela Stiens and Senator Adam Thomas, a legislative update from KOTA lobbyist Travis Grauerholz, and updates from KOTA President Ashleigh Heldstab, KOTA Government Affairs Chair Katrina Shaw and Susan Gile with the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts on licensure and professional issues impacting OT practice in our state.

After the program, attendees walked to the Capitol to meet with legislators and personally deliver information and gifts to every legislative office, helping ensure lawmakers understand the vital role occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants play in improving the lives of Kansans.

Thank you to every student, practitioner, and speaker who participated. Your advocacy and engagement help strengthen our profession and ensure occupational therapy continues to make a meaningful impact across Kansas.
