"We can help you keep that healthy smile"- Stephen Chronister DDS
Dr Chronister has been caring for the dental needs of the downtown Topeka business community since 1985. Our practice also welcomes all family members, from ages two to one hundred and two. Our office is conveniently located near all the major downtown office buildings and businesses, so you don't have to drive across town for a dental appointment. Dr Chronister also always strives to run "on time" so you can wait in your office, not ours. Dr. Chronister's main emphasis and interest is prosthodontics (dentures, partials, crown, bridges, and implants), but offers full dental services to all members of the family. Those are not just words on a page. Our goal is to take care of your needs in the most gentle way possible, and give you our full attention while you are here. We don't have an "assembly-line" practice.

Plot twist: you've been throwing away the best part of your kiwi. 🥝
According to Cleveland Clinic, kiwi skin is totally edible — and it packs 50% more fiber, 3x more antioxidants, and a solid boost of vitamins C and E compared to eating the fruit alone. Just wash it, maybe scrub off the fuzz, and bite right in like an apple.
The most nutritious part was the one we've been peeling off all along.

Did you know that you can eat the skin of a kiwi? It’s true! Here’s how and why the skin can be beneficial to your health.

Flossing isn't just for your teeth — it's for your heart. ❤️🦷
A new Association scientific statement confirms that gum disease is associated with higher risk of heart attack, stroke, atrial fibrillation, and heart failure. The culprit: bacteria from inflamed gums entering the bloodstream and driving artery-damaging inflammation.
Over 40% of U.S. adults over 30 have periodontal disease. Many don't know it.
Brush. Floss. See your dentist. Your cardiologist will thank you.

DALLAS, Dec. 16, 2025 — There is increasing evidence that gum disease is associated with increased risk of cardiovascular events, including heart attack, stroke, atrial fibrillation, heart failure and cardiometabolic health conditions. Effective...

Your mouth might be the most underrated health metric you have. 🦷
New research links "oral frailty" — trouble chewing, dry mouth, tooth loss — to a significantly shorter healthy life expectancy. In one study of 11,000+ adults over 65, those with oral frailty were 23% more likely to develop disability. The fix? The same basics dentists have always preached: brush, floss, and actually show up to your checkups.
Dental care isn't cosmetic. It's longevity care.

Your teeth might hold clues to your "healthy life expectancy".

Save your money on that liver detox kit. According to Johns Hopkins hepatologists, liver cleanses are not regulated by the FDA, have not been adequately tested in clinical trials, and some dietary supplements can actually cause harm to the liver. Your liver already does the job on its own — the best thing you can do is eat well, limit alcohol, and maintain a healthy weight.

The liver is one of the most important organs in the body. Learn the facts — and avoid the myths — about liver health and maintenance.

A new study of over 2 million people found that GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy are linked to a 12% higher risk of chronic cough — and the connection persists even in people without a history of acid reflux. If you're on a GLP-1 and developing a nagging cough, it may be worth mentioning to your doctor.

Risk was higher even among those without a previous GERD diagnosis

Your mouth may hold clues about your metabolism. A new study found that people with obesity have a distinct set of microbes in their mouths compared to people at a healthy weight — and those microbes weren't just different in species, but in what they were actively doing. Researchers say a simple mouthwash test could one day identify obesity risk before weight gain even begins.

A distinct set of microbes has been identified in people with obesity, which might help spot and treat the condition early – but whether it is a cause or effect of the condition isn’t known
