Healing Smiles

Healing Smiles One of the oldest and most trusted dental practices in northeast Kansas. Complete professional denta Our slogan is comfortable, personal care.

"We can help you keep that healthy smile"- Stephen Chronister DDS
Dr Chronister has been caring for the dental needs of the downtown Topeka business community since 1985. Our practice also welcomes all family members, from ages two to one hundred and two. Our office is conveniently located near all the major downtown office buildings and businesses, so you don't have to drive across town for a dental appointment. Dr Chronister also always strives to run "on time" so you can wait in your office, not ours. Dr. Chronister's main emphasis and interest is prosthodontics (dentures, partials, crown, bridges, and implants), but offers full dental services to all members of the family. Those are not just words on a page. Our goal is to take care of your needs in the most gentle way possible, and give you our full attention while you are here. We don't have an "assembly-line" practice.

🦷🧠 New research just linked a common cavity-causing mouth bacterium to Parkinson’s disease. Early evidence suggests what’s in your mouth may impact brain health — another great reason to brush and floss! 🪥

Study shows a cavity-causing oral bacterium may colonize the gut and drive Parkinson’s disease through a microbial enzyme and its byproduct.

🍎🦷 Quick sip, quick bounce-back! A new study by University of Portsmouth found that one gulp of apple juice temporarily messes with your saliva’s protective film — but the good news: your mouth recovers in about 10 minutes.

Scientists discover saliva protects our teeth and mouths better than expected against apple juice, as long as you follow some important hygiene steps.

🔍 New research from the National Cancer Institute shows rates of cancer in younger people are rising—and it’s not just “bad genes.” Environment, microbiome, lifestyle and timing may all play a role.

As diagnoses of colorectal, breast, and other cancers continue to increase in people under age 50, researchers are trying to understand why it’s happening.

🦷😄 Turns out CBD might help your mouth stay healthier — finally, something besides stress relief! Recent research says cannabinoids could fight bad bacteria and calm gum inflammation.
Who knew your smile might just want to chill out too? 😎💚

Our patients know that we offer CBD as one way to take the edge off and relax during dental procedures. It’s safe. It’s effective. And it’s also just one of many potential roles CBD and other cannabinoids can play in maintaining optimal mouth/body health. Using Cannabis in Dental Care Cannabis...

New guidance from American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) strongly advises that people avoid cannabis use during pregnancy and while breastfeeding — because growing evidence links it to risks like low birth weight, preterm birth, and developmental issues.

New guidance from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists advises that people abstain from cannabis use during pregnancy and lactation and recommends that providers ask all of their patients about cannabis use before, during and after pregnancy to help avoid potential risks.

Big news in dental care: the American Dental Association (ADA) is raising serious concerns after insurance giant Delta Dental of Wisconsin acquired the dental-chain Cherry Tree Dental, warning that when an insurer becomes both payer and provider, patient options and dentist autonomy may suffer.
That’s one of the many reasons Dr. Chronister opted out of Delta Dental — putting patient care before corporate control.

Association claims Delta Dental of Wisconsin’s recent acquisition of Cherry Tree Dental could create a conflict of interest. Earlier this month, the American Dental Association (ADA) issued a statement sharing concerns about dental insurance companies buying dental practices.  In the statement, t...
