🎉 BIG NEWS FROM THE HIGHLANDS! 🎉
WE ARE DONATING OVER 1,000 POUNDS OF FOOD!

Today our community donated 843 pounds of food to Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program. We are so proud of our residents, families, and team for coming together to support local families during this season of giving.

And we’re not stopping there. ❤️

We are using the 100 pound match from Grace Management, Inc.'s Graceful Giving campaign to partner with Sysco and the Tedford Housing Warming Center to donate over 160 pounds of frozen soup to help keep our neighbors warm and nourished this winter.

This is community in action.
This is heart.
This is The Highlands. 💜

Thank you to everyone participating in our Graceful Giving efforts. Together, we’re making a real difference.

Snow on Veterans Day

The morning hush is soft and pale,
White petals drift, a gentle veil.
The flags stand still, their colors bright,
Against the gray November light.

Each flake a whisper, cold and pure,
Of peace the weary still endure.
It settles quiet on the ground,
Where echoes of old steps resound.

The world seems paused, the streets grown still,
As snow drapes every field and hill.
A hush, a prayer, a fleeting grace—
Snow falling slow on sacred place.

And in that calm, we stand and say:
We thank you more than words convey.
For even as the snowflakes fall,
Your courage warms and shields us all.

🇺🇸 Honoring Our Veterans 🇺🇸

This morning, we gathered for a special breakfast to honor the incredible veterans who call The Highlands home. We are so thankful for their service, their stories, and the sacrifices they have made for our country.

Today and every day, we celebrate the courage and dedication of those who have served. Thank you, veterans — we are deeply grateful for you. ❤️🤍💙

📣 Community Food Drive Alert – Your Help Matters More Than Ever

We are collecting donations for the Midcoast Hunger Prevention Program through November 13, and we truly need your support.

As you may have heard, benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which many families depend on, are facing uncertainty. This means even more people may be turning to local food assistance in the coming weeks.

Most-needed items:
• Peanut butter
• Beans (canned or dry)
• Pasta sauce
• Canned chicken or tuna
• Healthy snacks
• Canned soups, stews, and pasta meals
• Baby formula
• Thanksgiving non-perishables (ready-to-use gravy, boxed stuffing, canned cranberry sauce, canned green beans, canned sweet potatoes or yams, canned pumpkin, pre-made shelf-stable pie crust)

Your donation can help bridge the gap for families who may suddenly face difficult choices about food. That makes this moment especially important.

Thank you for showing up for our community. Every jar, can, and box makes a difference and reminds our neighbors that they are not alone.

It’s always a great day when dogs come to visit!

Today, School Resource Officer Mathieu and Comfort Dog Garver from the Topsham Police Department joined us in our Governor King and Cadigan Lodge communities.

Although comfort dogs are relatively new to the state of Maine, law enforcement agencies across the country use them for everything from community outreach to supporting victims of trauma and abuse. Studies have shown that comfort and support dogs can help lower stress and anxiety, offering calm and companionship during times of loss and crisis. They also provide much-needed emotional support to first responders who regularly face challenging and traumatic situations.

We’re so grateful to SRO Mathieu and Garver for making our day extra special!
