Happy National Cheese Lover’s Day! I don’t usually jump on national “days,” but as a cheese fan- I couldn't resist 🧀

Whether it's snacking on cheesy chips or getting boba, sitting down with food together can make connecting feel easier and more natural for teens.

Many teens want friends—but don’t know how to move from “acquaintance” to “actual friendship.”

That’s not a motivation problem. It’s a skills gap.

At Novi Minds, we run the UCLA PEERS® group which teaches practical, evidence-based skills teens can actually use, with a concurrent parent group to support progress at home.

Our February group is starting soon. Learn more to see if it’s a fit.

Your teen wants friends — but doesn’t always know how to keep them.

Many teens struggle with:
• Starting or joining conversations
• Reading social cues
• Managing peer conflict
• Feeling left out or misunderstood

Social skills don’t always develop naturally — and that’s okay.

A teen social skills group will be opening soon.
Neurodivergent-affirming. Skills-based. Supportive group setting.

More details coming soon.

It's National School Psychologist Week! (No, not the same as a counselor and definitely not a psychiatrist 😆) School psychs are one of the hidden forces that are usually behind the scenes and doing SO. MUCH. work - implementing or supporting a school wide positive behavior support system to create an inclusive environment, being part of the school's crisis team, providing school counseling, training staff on social emotional development and disabilities, and that's just the extra stuff (gifted testing, disability testing, behavior plan development, and more!). Shoutout to all the school psychs out there- hoping your PTA got you some goodies!

School psychologists provide services that connect mental health, behavior and learning, with school, home, and community services.
It can be hard to describe this comprehensive role, but this resource can aid you in communicating the importance of all facets of being a school psychologist. https://buff.ly/suxOd8y

Girls don’t always ‘look’ autistic or ADHD — and too often, that means they go unnoticed.

Had the privilege of speaking with , an impressive therapist group serving the community, about understanding the differences between autism, ADHD, and social anxiety- especially in females.

The latest research shows girls are often diagnosed years later than boys because their struggles can be less obvious on the surface, which can lead to more anxiety, self-doubt, and fewer supports during the time they need them most.

At Novi Minds Educational Psychology, Inc., we’re passionate about helping kids and teens get clarity early, so they can thrive.

So proud to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Our Village, a small but mighty non-profit dedicated to supporting local South Bay families with neurodivergent kids, teens, and young adults who need social skills support!😊 As a volunteer board member for the last 7 years, it's been so great to see it grow, and it wouldn't have been possible without community partners like Beach Cities District, Harbor Regional Center, and more!
