What Is a Vision Therapy Optometrist?
A vision therapy optometrist is a specialized eye doctor trained to diagnose and treat problems with how the eyes and brain work together. While regular eye exams focus on eyesight (20/20 vision), a vision therapy optometrist evaluates deeper visual skills like eye teaming, tracking, focusing, and visual processing.
Many children and adults struggle with issues such as binocular vision dysfunction, convergence insufficiency, and lazy eye (amblyopia) without realizing their symptoms are vision-related. These conditions can cause headaches, reading difficulties, attention problems, and eye strain.
Through customized vision therapy, patients perform doctor-guided exercises that strengthen the connection between the eyes and brain. This treatment can improve reading ability, focus, depth perception, and overall visual comfort.
At the Visual Processing Institute, our clinics are among the largest and most technologically advanced vision therapy centers in California.
We help children and adults from Newport Beach, Torrance/South Bay, West LA, San Juan Capistrano, Laguna Niguel, Coto de Caza, Ladera Ranch, Bel Air, and Culver City overcome vision challenges and reach their full potential.
If you’re wondering whether vision problems may be affecting learning or daily life, we’re here to help.
