On the one year anniversary of the fires whatever you are feeling or not feeling right now is valid & normal.
The Anniversary Effect is a documented phenomenon that happens when people experience disaster & trauma at the anniversary of the event.
It can show itself in a number of ways from anger, irritation, sleep disturbances, physical pain, not wanting to engage or feel, anxiety, depression and more.
This is the time to be gentle with yourself, allow whatever it is you are feeling to be felt and experienced and deeply connect with these feelings so they can come to the surface to be processed.
It’s also a time to utilize resources to be with community, talk with others, seek mental healthcare, be in nature, eat a favorite meal.
Cherish those memories & honor what was lost. Find gratitude in what you still have, your strength, resilience and growth.
Grieve with your community there’s a lot of offerings happening at this time I’ve included some in this post please comment with more community events.
