Every 5th individual diagnosed with HIV in the US is aged between 13 and 24 while 44% of these cases in youth go undetected. Despite the alarming percentage of transmission, only 10% of high school students undergo HIV testing.

As a consequence of HIV stigma, people are uncomfortable discussing their statuses with partners.

On this National Youth HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NYHAAD), we urge the medical, civic, and academic administrative societies to boost the efforts around creating awareness for HIV/AIDS.
