An enormous THANK YOU to Paul and Kathy Wafer for hosting a wine tasting and lasagna dinner party over Labor Day weekend as a fundraiser for Earicles! Their goal was to help sponsor a child with a prior failed microtia ear reconstruction.
"Over the last several years I have raised money for several causes, but for me, this is the most meaningful. I am so thankful to have you as friends and family! We will all have an impact on a child's life! We will be guardian angels." ~ Paul
A little background on Paul....
He was actually born with microtia in the early 1950βs. He underwent dozens of surgeries before giving up on his quest for a successful ear reconstruction in the early 70βs. After graduating from Loyola Marymount University, he decided to go back to school and get a nursing degree. His career in nursing was focused on the operating room where he assisted in all kinds of surgery and ultimately became a director and administrator. After 25 years in the hospital setting, Paul started a successful consulting firm, Alpha Consulting Group, Inc., which helps hospitals provide safer and more efficient care in the operating room. Paul retired after 20 years consulting all over the country.
After retiring, Paul assisted in the start up of a Podcast that focuses on topics affecting the Operating Room, called First Case. Paul co-hosted the first 3 seasons to help them get off the ground before handing off to a team that is still clinically active in the OR. Paul also is a member of the Board of Directors and the Board Executive committee for the El Camino College Foundation.
Paul met his wife of 43 years in nursing school and have 2 daughters and 6 grandchildren.
The donations from this special family and their friends, along with the support of Dr. Sheryl Lewin, Microtia Ear Surgery Cove Surgery Center Poriferous, LLC - will make a dream come true!
