Spring Events Around Town
Spring is in the air and has some of the best weather for any of those 5ks, Warrior dashes or bicycle rides – not too hot, not too cold. If you want to move your muscles, signing up for any of these events is a great goal to work towards. Get an accountability partner to join you – that makes it even more fun! Here are a few events happening around the country. Visit your local events calendar to see what's going on near you.

This moist bread has been in the family for as long as I can remember. I like it because it's easily thrown together in one bowl and very moist -- perfect for a snack at work or school!

April Fools day is around the corner so be ready for those pranksters in your life. Yes, we know who you are. Lol

On April 1, 1700, English pranksters begin popularizing the annual tradition of April Fools’ Day by playing practical jokes on each other.

Although the day, also called All Fools’ Day, has been celebrated for several centuries by different cultures, its exact origins remain a mystery.

Some historians speculate that April Fools’ Day dates back to 1582, when France switched from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar, as called for by the Council of Trent in 1563. People who were slow to get the news or failed to recognize that the start of the new year had moved to January 1 and continued to celebrate it during the last week of March through April 1 became the butt of jokes and hoaxes.

These pranks included having paper fish placed on their backs and being referred to as poisson d’avril (April fish), said to symbolize a young, “easily hooked” fish and a gullible person.

April Fools’ Day spread throughout Britain during the 18th century. In Scotland, the tradition became a two-day event, starting with “hunting the gowk,” in which people were sent on phony errands (gowk is a word for cuckoo bird, a symbol for fool) and followed by Tailie Day, which involved pranks played on people’s derrieres, such as pinning fake tails or “kick me” signs on them.

Fun Holidays this Week:
March 30: Take a Walk in the Park Day – Schedule some time to explore the parks in your area today.
April 1: April Fool's Day – Happy April Fool’s Day
April 2: Children's Book Day – What was your favorite book as a kid? Today’s a great day to re-read those treasures.
April 2: Reconciliation Day – Designated as a day to patch up relationships and to make amends. Life is too short to hold a grudge between those we love.

Keeping hydrated is an important part of staying healthy. Water promotes cardiovascular health, keeps your body cool, helps muscles and joints work better and keeps skin supple. Here is this week’s hydration recipe:

Lemon Blueberry Water
Ingredients:
½ lemon cut into slices
Handful of blueberries, muddled
