Scientific studies have proven that psycho-social support for cancer patients is a vital form of treatment in fighting the disease. Cancer Support Community South Bay is a chapter of the Cancer Support Community, an international non-profit with over 100 chapters worldwide. Our mission is to uplift and strengthen people impacted by cancer by providing support, fostering compassionate communities,

and breaking down barriers to care. CSC South Bay provides emotional support, education and hope for people affected by cancer and their loved ones in the South Bay, Long Beach, and Orange County. Our programs are developed from evidence-based psychosocial oncology and groups are facilitated by licensed therapists. Our services include weekly and monthly support groups, 16 cancer-specific groups, bereavement groups, programs geared specifically towards kids and teens, and both individual and family counseling services. Licensed therapists encourage participants to adopt a set of actions, behaviors, and attitudes that will improve the quality of their life and ultimately could increase the possibility of recovery. Accompanying our core programs are monthly educational workshops with experts in the fields of oncology, wellness, nutrition, and more. Participants also have full access to a variety of healthy lifestyle classes focusing on the mind-body connection as well as social events that foster community, positivity, and connection. Again, all of this is offered completely free of charge for ANYONE affected by cancer.

This Volunteer Appreciation Month, we’re celebrating the heart of CSC South Bay: our incredible volunteers.

Yesterday, we had the chance to come together and celebrate them. These moments of connection are what make this community so special.

From leading workshops and wellness classes to welcoming participants and creating moments of connection like these, our volunteers show up with generosity, compassion, and care.

✨ Did you know many of the programs and workshops our community relies on are led by volunteers?

Because of them, we’re able to provide free support, connection, and hope for individuals and families facing cancer. No one has to face it alone.

This is where healing happens. In community.

Join oncology and hospice nurse Karen Morin, RN, for a clear, compassionate overview of end-of-life options in California, including recent updates to the Medical Aid in Dying law. Time away. Fresh air. Connection with women who understand. 💜

Healing Odyssey Retreats, a nonprofit serving women cancer survivors since 1994, is hosting a retreat designed and led by oncology professionals in the serenity of the Southern California mountains.

Participants will connect with other survivors, recharge, and gain tools to help create their best life after cancer through interactive, hope-centered experiences.
