Play 2 Learn will be at our community's "Fall Fest" with Beach Cities Health District on Saturday, November 8th until 1:00pm! Bring your kids for the fun at Adventureplex and stop by and say "Hello!" We will be sharing about our upcoming Kid 2 Kid social skills (ages 4-12) groups, our counseling services and our PEERS for Preschooler's groups (ages 4-6), starting in the New Year! Halloween is one of our favorite times to celebrate and practice some wonderful, organic lessons, in our “Kid 2 Kid” play & social skills group, at Play 2 Learn of Torrance! 🎃🥰

it is a great time to practice, “assertive” communication style, with voice and body, versus “passive or aggressive” choices of communication styles. Trick-or-treating in our offices presents a naturally reinforcing opportunity to practice the skills!

We also love to embed some priming and desensitization of spooky sounds, music, and images, to help our kids do their best navigating their natural environments! 👍

We also love co-regulation & focus activities, such as: Nails in a pumpkin, teamwork skeleton scavenger hunts & puzzles, community crafts.

And our favorite “Costume Parade” where group members practice theory of mind and perspective-taking skills, describing their awesome costume characters, their strengths and weaknesses and powers, and their stories to their peers! 😀🥰

Hello wonderful families, our KIDS groups are starting soon, and we are in search of some great KID mentor volunteers! Boys and girls ages 6 - 9 years old. Mentors should have good verbal language skills, have good play and sportsmanship skills, follow directions from adults, and be open and empathic to others! Benefits of volunteering for kids is that it builds their own self-confidence, builds their leadership skills, teaches them about giving back, and they learn about diversity awareness and how to be strength-affirming with peers. Today is the day, when Play 2 Learn's owner, Monica Fyfe, has published her latest children’s book! "It has dropped today!”😎

This book is entitled, “Lizzy’s New School of Fish” and is the 3rd in my therapeutic children’s series called “Welcome to Petsville!”

This beautiful story not only helps build social confidence and navigation skills for a first day of school, but offers modeling and practical tips for any child on how to make a new friend in any situation, water or land! 😃🐟

This book is very special to Monica Fyfe, MFT, BCBA, RPT-S and our entire clinical team of Play therapists and Behavior therapists, as it is inspired by the PEERS social skills program from the UCLA PEERS Clinic. And it is sincerely dedicated to one of Monica's favorite professional mentors, Dr. Elizabeth Laugeson! 🥰

Calling all Preschooler's and Parents! We have an awesome PEERS for Preschoolers Social Skills Group starting this September for kids ages 4-6, held on weekdays! We have both IN-Person options at our office in Torrance, AND our ONLINE, Virtual format for families that reside anywhere in the state of California! Play 2 Learn is excited to partner with Novi Minds, including certified providers from UCLA who are BCBA's, LEP's, MFT's, and Registered Play Therapists! Most of all, we love what we do, we are here for your family and our youngest friends and social navigators!
