Today, weโ€™re especially grateful for our community โ€” for every person who walks through our doors with courage and our incredible staff that meets them with compassion, for every partner who stands beside us, and for every supporter who believes in healing, hope, and second chances. Your kindness and support for our organization and the people we serve means more than words can express.

Weโ€™re too often told to fear or blame each other instead of confronting the systems causing real harm. That message pulls us out of relationship and away from our shared humanity.

McCallโ€™s President & CEO Maria Coutant Skinner, LCSW, joined 97.3 WZBG on Wednesday morning to offer a heartfelt look at what frustrates us and what heals us, showing how kindness and connection can steady us when life throws us challenges.

Today, we remember the trans lives taken from us far too soon. Each one was a whole person with hopes, love, and light. ๐Ÿฉต๐Ÿฉท Honoring their memory means taking action to build a safer, more inclusive world for transgender people. We must continue to speak up, support our trans neighbors, and stand firmly against hate.

Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), held every November 20, commemorates transgender individuals whose lives were taken by acts of anti-transgender violence and calls attention to the ongoing need for safety and equity.

Last Thursday night, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announced policy changes that will significantly reduce funding for their Continuum of Care permanent housing program supporting people experiencing homelessness.

Our President and CEO, Maria Coutant Skinner, LCSW, joined Senator Blumenthal and a group of local advocates and lawmakers to voice urgent concerns about the policy changes, highlighting the essential role permanent housing plays in the health, stability, and dignity of community members experiencing homelessness.

โœจ The McCall Behavioral Health Network's 2025 Annual Appeal is now live! https://hubs.la/Q03TlfKJ0

Every day, people walk through our doors carrying fear, shame, and uncertainty. A parent overwhelmed by stress. A teen battling anxiety. A neighbor struggling with substance use. A loved one who feels all hope is lost. At McCall, theyโ€™re met with skilled clinicians, judgment-free support, and a path toward healing. From counseling and prevention to family programs and recovery services, weโ€™re committed to ensuring ๐—ป๐—ผ ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฒ ๐—ถ๐˜€ ๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐—ฎ๐˜„๐—ฎ๐˜†.

The need for these life-saving services continues to grow, but ongoing challenges and budget cuts put programs, and the people who rely on them, at risk. When services are stretched, the whole community can struggle to access the support it needs to heal and thrive.

Now, more than ever, your support keeps compassionate care within reach. ๐Ÿ’› Your gift is more than a donation; itโ€™s a lifeline, a beacon of hope, and a promise that everyone deserves the chance to heal and thrive.

๐Ÿงก Hunger Pains: A Call to Action ๐Ÿงก

In this monthโ€™s newsletter, our President and CEO, Maria Coutant Skinner, LCSW, shares an urgent message about the impact of the ongoing government shutdown on families across Connecticut. More than 360,000 Connecticut residents โ€” including children, seniors, and people with disabilities โ€” will lose access to food assistance through SNAP.

Maria reminds us that this is a moment to act, to support our neighbors, and to ensure no one in our community goes hungry. ๐ŸŽ
